Need some help/predictions with a hedgehog I found.
This morning when I was walking my dog there was a hedgehog curled up in the middle of a field. I know that the guy's are nocturnal so I figured something was wrong but just moved it out of sight and carried on with the walk. Two hours later it still hadn't budged so I brought it home and put it in a shoebox with scraps of paper (in case it wanted to write a letter obv). It's taken water from a pipette, but hasn't eaten.

TL;DR - What's the best explanation for a hedgehog being out in the open and staying motionless, and what are the odds of surviving?

Hey /an/, I was thinking about majoring in herpetology or entomology, two fields that I've been interested in my whole life. What are they like?

I'm headed to an apartment that lets me keep 2 pets under 35lbs. It's a pretty big place, and there are tons of trails nearby. My boyfriend and I love hiking, so we were hoping for a few dogs to go along with us.

I was thinking a corgi for one of the dogs, and I'm wondering what would be a good breed to pair it with. My boyfriend has fallen in love with Shiba Inus, would that work out?

So I live in a semi-rural area. The family property sits on 8 acres of woodland. One of those acres has been cleared of trees for the house and a yard. We have a whole bunch of bird feeders and houses around the house so that song birds can visit us year-round.
We also have a dog that we let run around our property for the most part supervised. If he wanders out of sight for too long, we whistle him back and he comes out of the woods.
My father trained him so that even when he's in full chase, a few pips of the whistle and he stops what he's doing and comes back. (Our first dog got hit by a train after he wandered off too far during a hunting trip, so my family made sure to have 100% recall with all our subsequent dogs). Most of the time though, we don't need the whistle; my dog tends to stay close by.

My mother has always wanted a pet parrot since she was child. I want to get her one this mother's day but I don't know much about them or which one would be suitable for her. She mostly stays at home and likes watching her pet budgies play.

Any helpful advice?
