there was a mantis once that was hanging out on my screen door in the back yard, he was there for 3 days just sitting around, moving every once and a while, my mom decided it would be better off if she moved it to a patch of grass on the other side of the yard. I came home and she told me where she put it so I went over to see it, right on the brick next to the grass was one of its arms and a couple of legs, very obviously got picked off by a bird.

These spiders can change color depending on what flower they reside on. Not any color mind you, but they can flood thier outer most cell layer with a yellow pigment, they can be anywhere in between white, greenish to bright yellow. Color change takes over a week to complete though. Also they jut each of thier 8 legs out straight in an attempt to look like a flower, like in the pic here, works on other bugs and animals, but I was too clever for it.

I've got a small question regarding tarantulas. Couple of months ago, I fed my 1.5 " G. Pulchripes about one or two crickets a week. It fattened up quite a bit, so I decided to stop feeding it for a bit so I didn't overfeed it. It then went into hiding for about two months. I saw it again last week or so, expecting it to be a bit thinner and starving but it's exactly the same size as before. I gave it another cricket just to give it something to eat after so long. Anyway my question was: is the abdomen size a good sign of whether or not to feed? Or do they still require regular nutrition even when they're bloated? Maybe I should wait until next molt (which it hasn't done yet since I got it last July).
