Tor safely makes you anonymous and impossible to track, provided you don't do anything stupid or use unauthorized applications.

However, some of the information you send and recieve is traceable. So if you enter your username/password on some unsecure website, these can be intercepted; and if the website has some private information stored about you (and if you were using it w/o TOR, it does), you can be traced this way.

tl;dr don't use apps with TOR and always make separate accounts when using TOR and they can't get you

Everything is stored in a temporary cache folder. Images included, even just viewing them means they have been downloaded to your computer. Best way is to have a live CD, so you are running the system from a disk which cannot be written to, therefore nothing can be stored locally, therefore no evidence. Except for your IP address connecting. If you want to be super secure, buy a pay-as-you-go sim card, top it up with cash and then use the mobile internet tethered to your machine. Don't need to mask IP address and there is no way to trace it back to you.

how else do you think you are viewing the image? A HTTP request is sent to the server, the HTML file is sent back. For each <img> tag within that code another HTTP request is sent for each individual image in the page. This is then downloaded to a temporary cache folder on your computer where it is then loaded by the browser onto your screen.

2) Get a 64 GB SD Card, make sure its an HC Class 10 or something fast
3) Use Truecrypt to encrypt the drive
4) Create a Ubuntu VM ware image, run it from the SD card.

It means you would have to register and renew (which can take a person 1 to 4 hours to do) every year in every state you go through.

Commercial construction would be ok, however it would rule out any school work, plus every time you change job sites you will most likely have to re-register, especially if you work in multiple counties.

While indeed every image you have watched has been downloaded technically, that does not neccesarily mean legally.
In germany having an image in the cache does not constitute as owning it (this has been decided legally binding in court) and owning is all what it is about here.
However, if you use a stock browser that creates temporary internet files to speed up viewing later, THAT might constitute as owning the picture (has not been challengied in court so far).

Tor is mostly safe. But there is a way to trace you with a high probability. It might not stand up in court but secret courts or military courts where the NSA can give secret evidence dont give a shit about regular procedures. All they have to do is watch the exit nodes and run timing attacks to make a rough guess about your location. The NSA saves all your internet traffic so that can also help identify you even if they can't decrypt the traffic at your end, as long as they know which exit node you used. tl/dr most of your CP shit is not likely to attract that level of attention but if you are making threats on the internet or visiting certain "middle eastern" sites it could very well be unsafe.

The safest way by far is to add one degree of seperation. Use wifi or an internet cafe and then connect to tor.

Most of the busts within tor network happen due to social engineering, bad exit nodes and people doing stupid shit.
The code for videlia bundle as well as the stripped down ff browser is pretty damn stable. and even the standart setup is pretty safe.

But lets say you use a bad exit node to browse ...pizza. Nobody knows who you are unless you login to your facebook through the same exit node. That makes a link to you even without your IP or browser fingerprint.

Or if you're an active seller on SR or BMR. You're only a subject of interest if you're a low hanging fruit (you talk a lot and do stupid shit) or if you're a big name.

The social engineering part is about your username and the way you write. lets say your username is blackhawkUK. If someone wants to check up on you they will look for the username on the clearnet. and if say your fb url is /blackhawkUK you'll be a suspect.
The same way goes with email addresses used on tor. If your email address from your shady activity appears on clearnet, that is most likely to make a link. Especially if you use it for something shady as well.

The next and interesting part is the way you type. It's a fairly new technique and it is about you making the same mistakes in your grammer, using capitals or commas. But there's an interesting article about that in the hidden wiki.

The NSA would know what middle nodes you took because they monitor all internet traffic by default... and they probably have taps to the exit node as well, that gives them your entire path of data over the 3 hops.

Of course there are corrupt LE on the network using dirty tricks to get your identity but again without legit evidence this is useless.
As i said, the only way you could get in trouble is to get identified with your tor-persona or if you get personal information out on the network. But that's quite hard.
There's always a chance that you get a keylogger or RK on your machine that reveals everything. But that's not too hard to avoid.

They don't need 51% of the network, just the first layer of transit nodes. That information is visible to your ISP and the NSA logs all traffic in the US so they know the first layer you took. Then it's just a matter of watching the exit nodes traffic. The NSA can monitor all traffic in the US without controlling every computer in the US because they tap the ISP directly. It's the same when you want to tap exit nodes.

I think you're trying to describe timing comparison probability exploits - which can narrow down your signal to possible being one of the ones which was to a specific server - but if that server is a FH load balancer then that is worth shit because there are plenty of perfectly legal sites on there too.

P/T exploits are never used because you can't prove shit - you can't see the content of the request or response, only make an estimation based on timing that it perhaps went to shit or that server.

Only dumbshits get busted on tor.

Only dumbshits use it for illegals in the first place.
