>>188676I didn't watch Grave of the Fireflies but I heard something about it from a friend so I'll just talk out of my ass for a while, pretending to know what I'm talking about.Fixed.
I don't know about other "anti-war against Japan propaganda" films, but I do know Grave of the Fireflies isn't one of those. Tell me, what part of the film made you realize that?
Replace the original dub with whatever other language and slap a few, I dunno, French or Polish, perhaps even Vietnamese flags over couple of frames and you wouldn't know the story is taking place in Japan.
You would, I'm sure, but you get the point. GotF is a story about war and suffering it brings.
If you're an American I can see why it must be difficult for you to fully understand this film and appreciate it simply for what it is, since we didn't have any recent wars taking place on your soil nor can we comprehend the concept of civilian war casualties any longer.[/trolling]
Yes, Japanese government may have been brainwashed and delusional at that point in history and the atrocities they have committed are unforgivable and unforgettable.
Those two kids weren't, along with thousands of others who didn't even know who were they in war with, or why.
Also, you think GotF is "anti war Japanese victimization propaganda", what the fuck is 'Letters from Iwo Jima', then?
