Umeneko gets this distinction... the way it was written is so complex and hard to understand, it makes reading 20,000 leagues under the sea hilariously entertaining... I seriously don't know why...

Oh and... you really can see the high level of intelligence behind the author... just look at the amount of ellipses... a tell tale sign...

Oh god ellipses, those drove me fucking nuts while playing Muv Luv Alternative. I particularly enjoyed how they were all voiced with a grunt / gasp.

The relationship between plot and writing is basically the relationship between concept and execution.

Generally speaking, VNs as a genre have shit execution compared to actual literature; but that doesn't matter. You read VNs for the concepts and ideas presented (this includes things likes characters) and not to study how to be an author yourself, which is the purpose of the Canon.

The original visual novel is ALWAYS better than the anime adaptation, always. No exceptions. So yes, unless you can't read Japanese and are unwilling to wait 25 years for JAST to localize it.
