No, this isn't a good carry gun for your first - it's a very high end piece for specific work. It'll be JUST FINE as a carry gun, but it's kinda like driving a Lamborghini Diablo to Wal Mart to go shopping. (Note: I HAVE SEEN THIS DONE.)
We've got the Deathwatch prototype which is coming along, a smaller commander-size doublestack that would fit the bill of a high-end carry piece, as well as a standard fullsize 1911 (still custom) and a supercompact Officers called the Combat Tracer.
