Dear /k/,
Upon cleaning and performing a safety check on my Glock, I noticed that something seemed amiss. I think my firing pin safety is malfunctioning. (
http://www.glock.ch/firing_pin_safety.htm) The striker protrudes from the housing after racking the slide. It can be pushed back into the housing and there is a distinctive click once this happens (this is the pin blocker falling down into place to block the striker). Sometimes it's staying in the housing though and not coming out. I'm afraid that I'm risking a slamfire if this problem isn't resolved. I went to the range today and had some FTFs (due to the ammo I believe), but otherwise had no apparent striker problems.
I could be wrong and this is the normal method of function though. I'm just not so keen on chambering a round until I know that this is the way it should be or if there is an issue though.
Thanks!
