With Frank Miller's 300 coming out soon, I had a thought

I've never heard of the Persians ever winning a battle, because generally the only time I read about them is when their butts were heroically whooped by the Greeks.

But from my understanding, they were Suppostto be powerful, Feared, etc. Which is why the greeks were all like "Holy shit we beat them! Lets party!!!" But the way they're written in the history books makes them seem like enormous losers.
