>>8611032>Battlemechs are said to be around 12 (regardeless of weight class)Not quite true, superheavies are in game play 3 levels tall, so that puts them at 18m max. Not a common thing, but still.
As for the head size, one thing to also consider is that even with torso mounted cockpits being a thing now, the head issue is at times vague, such as the Crab which most certainly doesn't have a "head", an given the fluff states the pilot can eject either up into the air, or backwards, suggest that it's actually towards the rear.
One thing I've considered in regards to that abstraction is that some mechs might have the pilot sitting more in the neck than the head, maybe only the upper torso actually being in the head.
The Spider in particular could fit this notion, as fluff wise (and in game if using the appropriate quirks) it lacks an ejection system in due to head design and all the large advanced computers it uses. If the pilot were more underneath the head, and all that stuff above them, that would certainly give reason for that.
It also makes sense for humanoid mechs with more unconventional head shapes, like the Wolfhound, and especially the Hatchetman and Axman, as those two are often rendered with a sort of hunched look, the shoulders being a bit higher than the neck.
