Spielberg mocked in China over Olympic pullout

No.705311 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
Hollywood film-maker Steven Spielberg has been ridiculed in the Chinese media and on the Internet for living in a "sci-fi" dreamworld over his decision to sever ties with the Beijing Olympics.

Spielberg said last week that his conscience would no longer allow him to work on the Olympics as an artistic consultant while Sudan's China-backed government carried out genocide in its western Darfur province.

Spielberg's films have been box office hits in China but the producer has come under regular attack after his withdrawal from the Beijing Games.

"This person is completely living in his sci-fi world and cannot distinguish dream from reality," said a commentator in the China Youth Daily.

They targeted Spielberg "as a person who failed to keep his word" and for linking politics to the Beijing Olympics.

One posting said: "The US slaughters civilians in Afghanistan and Iraq. Director Spielberg, don't you feel ashamed being an American?

"You don't criticise your own country, then how can you criticise China?"

Cancer Link to "Heavy Cell Phone Use"

No.707413 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
Heavy mobile phone use may be linked to an increased risk of cancer of the salivary gland, a study suggests.

Researchers looked at 500 Israelis who had developed the condition and compared their mobile phone usage with 1,300 healthy controls.

Those who had used the phone against one side of the head for several hours a day were 50% more likely to have developed a salivary gland tumour.

The research appeared in The American Journal of Epidemiology.

Numerous studies have focused on the risk of tumours among those who use mobile phones, and overwhelmingly found no increased cancer risk.

But researchers at Tel Aviv University say these have tended to focus on brain tumours, and often did not include long-term users.

Cancer of the salivary gland is a very rare condition. Of the 230,000 cases of cancer diagnosed in the UK for instance annually, only 550 affected the salivary gland.

It's funny how there are so many neck-beards on the internet who are self-proclaimed economic experts who all believe in being ultra-individualistic and that taxes and government are inherently evil. Apparently, everyone is responsible for all the things they produce by themselves, they were self educated and had no parents, siblings or other relatives. There is no such thing as handicapped people, retards, people who've been physically torn to shreds by car accidents or genetic diseases. Roads built themselves, factories could function without workers, education after high school is only for those who can afford it, as it's an investment. A flat tax is totally feasible and not unfair at all.

Barack Hussein Obama's church - before he was running for Nigger-in-Chief

We are a congregation which is Unashamedly Black and Unapologetically Christian... Our roots in the Black religious experience and tradition are deep, lasting and permanent. We are an African people, and remain "true to our native land," the mother continent, the cradle of civilization. God has superintended our pilgrimage through the days of slavery, the days of segregation, and the long night of racism. It is God who gives us the strength and courage to continuously address injustice as a people, and as a congregation. We constantly affirm our trust in God through cultural expression of a Black worship service and ministries which address the Black Community.

Trinity United Church of Christ adopted the Black Value System written by the Manford Byrd Recognition Committee chaired by Vallmer Jordan in 1981. We believe in the following 12 precepts and covenantal statements. These Black Ethics must be taught and exemplified in homes, churches, nurseries and schools, wherever Blacks are gathered. They must reflect on the following concepts:

Archdiocese Reinstates Controversial Priest After Vatican Ruling

CINCINNATI -- A Roman Catholic priest who was fined for soliciting sex in a park and later acquitted of separate charges that he raped a boy has been reinstated, the Archdiocese of Cincinnati announced Thursday.

The move came after the Vatican reviewed the case and gave approval for the Rev. Raymond Larger to be returned to active duties. Larger, 56, will be assigned to the Cathedral of St. Peter in Chains downtown and will work at the archdiocese chancery office.

"I believe in Father Larger's innocence and am thankful that the clearing of his name makes possible his return to a ministerial role," Archbishop Daniel Pilarczyk said in a statement.

In 2003, Larger pleaded no contest to public indecency and soliciting sex from a male undercover officer in a park in Dayton. A magistrate fined him $100 and placed him on probation.

In July 2005, Larger was indicted on charges that he raped a boy while he was a pastor in the 1990s. He was placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of his case.

Caveman, one of the moderators of the Ebaum's World Forum, was found dead yesterday to a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

Shall we make flyers informing them of God's hatred of Caveman?
