Cancer Link to "Heavy Cell Phone Use"

No.707413 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
Heavy mobile phone use may be linked to an increased risk of cancer of the salivary gland, a study suggests.

Researchers looked at 500 Israelis who had developed the condition and compared their mobile phone usage with 1,300 healthy controls.

Those who had used the phone against one side of the head for several hours a day were 50% more likely to have developed a salivary gland tumour.

The research appeared in The American Journal of Epidemiology.

Numerous studies have focused on the risk of tumours among those who use mobile phones, and overwhelmingly found no increased cancer risk.

But researchers at Tel Aviv University say these have tended to focus on brain tumours, and often did not include long-term users.

Cancer of the salivary gland is a very rare condition. Of the 230,000 cases of cancer diagnosed in the UK for instance annually, only 550 affected the salivary gland.

Archdiocese Reinstates Controversial Priest After Vatican Ruling

CINCINNATI -- A Roman Catholic priest who was fined for soliciting sex in a park and later acquitted of separate charges that he raped a boy has been reinstated, the Archdiocese of Cincinnati announced Thursday.

The move came after the Vatican reviewed the case and gave approval for the Rev. Raymond Larger to be returned to active duties. Larger, 56, will be assigned to the Cathedral of St. Peter in Chains downtown and will work at the archdiocese chancery office.

"I believe in Father Larger's innocence and am thankful that the clearing of his name makes possible his return to a ministerial role," Archbishop Daniel Pilarczyk said in a statement.

In 2003, Larger pleaded no contest to public indecency and soliciting sex from a male undercover officer in a park in Dayton. A magistrate fined him $100 and placed him on probation.

In July 2005, Larger was indicted on charges that he raped a boy while he was a pastor in the 1990s. He was placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of his case.

I'm not a regular around here but I've got some questions.
1) Why are Europeans so much smarter than fat redneck Americans?
2) Why are fundamentalist Christians so stupid and fat and redneck and greatest threat to the planet? Why couldn't they do something else?
3) Why are people who deny stupid fat American rednecks in their SUVs are causing global warming so stupid fat and redneck?
4) Why do people insist on living their hollow meaningless fat stupid redneck American consumerist lives when they could be out making a difference, breaking glass ceilings, reinforcing social justice?
5) Why are Americans so much dumber than Europeans? Is it because of their fat redneckitude or their complete lack of culture?

Update: Larry Sinclair Accepts WhiteHouse.com $100,000 Polygraph Challenge

The truth will set you free they say, but the truth plus $100,000 will set you even freer. That's the conclusion our good friend Larry Sinclair has come to after considering the offer we made him yesterday: $10,000 to take a polygraph test over his Barack Obama sex and drugs claims, and $100,000 if he passes it.

After communicating via email to work out the logistics of the challenge, we were able to reach an agreement. Now, the plan is to get together with Sinclair and one of the best polygraph experts in the country, and ask him some questions – with the camera rolling, of course. As more details are made available we will post it here.

The results of the whole thing will be posted right here on Whitehouse.com. Our pockets lighter by either ten grand or ten times that amount, we'll all have a better sense of what to make of Sinclair's almost-too-unbelievable-to-be-unbelievable allegations against a Senator who is poised, perhaps, to make history.
Mr Sinclair has put up instead of shutting up so we will see which way the chips fall.
