the road bike is a kestrel talon... looks like older model than the 2011. those are definitely shimano 105 shifters tho, so i assume it's 105 all around. MSRP is around 1800 for a new one. used, at police auction...maybe 600~?

I'm not go to say we're just better on this side of the Atlantic. But, rails like those in America, is considered dangerous here, in Denmark we only have 2 lines looking like that, one with an 40 kmph limit due to the track statement, only open for very special cargo, and one which is taken of the map, and not even considered existing but local authorities. That's what you got for you're extreme liberal thinking. Even here, I believe we think to liberal about the rails and public transportation. I've rather pay more taxes, and then have cheap (if not free) public transportation that isn't under maintained.

Yep, it's the harpers ferry bridge.

sup /n/? First time poster on /n/, usually on /o/ though. I recently picked up a job doing assembly work at a local bicycle shop and it stirred me up and got me back into riding. Needless to say, I feel like a kid again and I don't even know why I ever let myself get out of bicycling in general.. probably the fact I began dumping thousands into my cars and didn't spend money on bike stuff anymore. Kinda bad day.. bought a new seat and I can't use it because the last time I rhode my bike , I was 15 (22 now) and I took it off a "sweet jump" and was dared to stay sitting on the seat. What happened next was the obvious.. that the seat rails caved upwards and fucked up the mounts on the top of my seat post. This was in 2003 or 2004 or so. Let's fast forward to yesterday, I got newer tires on the bike that came on my stepdad's Y3, had a brand new wheelset that's been sitting in my attic since the last time I rhode the bike as well..swapped my rotors over, put tubes/tires on the new wheels, and went to ride. Remembered about the seat. My shop is closed tomorrow and I really don't wanna pay out the ass in a pinch just so I can ride tomorrow and the day after since those are my days off. Just kinda wanna BS about bikes really, so I figured I'd come to /n/ as I have four in working condition and I figure I'll fit in here. Pic related, with the caved seat.. I built this bike up when I was younger, so all the memories were made when I was younger.. definitely felt great to ride but I definitely needed a new seat. It's a 2002 or 2003 Mongoose Rockadile AL, with hayes, shimano LX/XT stuff, rhyno lite wheels and deore hubs.. nothin too fancy. Like I said, did it when I was younger. Did what I could afford.

Nice cars. I've built hybrids, mountain bikes, 29ers, and kids bikes so far. I haven't had the opportunity to build a road bike yet. Here's some of my other stuff.. I bought this 2009 Schwinn back in 2009 to lose some weight and work out on it since I didn't wanna beat up my nice stuff (in original post) being too heavy, was worried about frame. I detail cars on the side as a hobby and partial income, so needless to say, the paint POPS on all my bikes in the sun. Here's an example, aforementioned bike in the pic.

Close up of the paint on the Schwinn Mirada, still in very good shape. Someone came in, decided it was "too much" to fix , and told my manager to throw it away. I asked if I could have it. Needed a good cleaning and grease/oil, and a new rear wheel. Currently in search of a rear wheel for it, then I'll sell it on for a profit.. also needs tires but that's not hard to come by.

Don't come in.. and you know what, don't come in tomorrow either. Take a permanent vacation. You're fired."

Alright /n/, what's the most awkward or heavy thing you've ever hauled by bike? Pic related to something remarkably difficult to pack on a bike (didn't want to pull a trailer, since I had to make a fairly long ride to get this frame).

>>271391 why didn't you sling the frame over your shoulder through the downtube? yes, it has been done. even wrapping a little padding (tshirt etc) where metal hits your body seems much easier than the rig you cooked up.
>>271397 you, sir, are everything that is awesome about /n/.
as for me, I remember hauling a >50lb load of boxed documents on a one hour delivery across downtown ATL (sounds further than it was). fun times. My regular grocery runs are probably about the same (aprox $100 US of groceries--feels like at least 50lbs). rack+2 panniers+messenger bag+bungie cords as needed. the real trick isn't the weight, but to pack it so the bread and eggs aren't crushed.

Hey /n/, I didn't know where else to post this so it goes here. Pic related. inb4 what model am I building. It's Revell Kit #85-5528 B-52J Mitchell Gun Nose. I'm gonna have to call their office on Monday and beg them to give/sell me a new spur with the window bits on it.

The wingless wonder sits ready to be masked and sprayed. You can see the front part the messed up cockpit window down in the very right-hand corner of the pic.

>>271419 Just an addendum - all that white shit you see up front is contour putty, copious amounts of it. the nose cone fit on this model is a disastrous textbook example of how NOT to create injection-modeled plastic bits that are supposed to go together later. I felt like they may as well have sent be a block of clay and have the instructions read "mold a B-25. the end."
>>271417 What do you recommended? Slightly more yellow in tone?
The instructions said "Zinc Chromate", which is not a color in and of itself, but a chemical that is designed to protect metals from corrosion. It was from my understanding often greenish-yellow back when the USAAF/Boeing used it during the war. I like the tone I mixed but I suppose it could have been yellow-er

>>271306 I'm one of those people.
I've got one bike that's full dura ace and is a bit over 16 pounds (including pedals and cages and everything ofc).
I've got another built up touring style with a front generator hub, back roller panniers, full 105 black 2011 group, dura ace to mavic open pro.
I figured since people were posting single/fixed ITT I would carry on the tradition.
Then I have my 3 fixed gears........................problem officerspandex?
>>271274 Thanks.
They are braze-ons for rear brake cables.
I haven't run a rear brake on that particular frame in 3 years. Don't really want to pull them off because I might want to build it up SS again some day. But without the brake cable in them they catch on my pants or skin and tear holes, so I just electrical taped over them.

>>271383 Yeah, I run SPD on all of my bikes.
PD-a600 on my road bike, and normal double entry on the others.
The ones in the pic are PD-M540.
I like being able to jump on any of my bikes with any of my shoes, and for me, SPD was the best option. I can walk in and out of places without scaring up peoples flooring. I can adjust the release tension differently on separate bikes so that I won't pull out while sprinting or skidding on a fixed and I won't have trouble freeing my foot up after a long ride on a geared.
> sounds like a Shimano commercial, but really, that's just how it is

What's the most fuel efficient 250cc motorcycle?
Anonymous
Quoted By:
>>271331 http://www.fuelly.com/motorcycle/ It seems the general trend is the 250cc scooters are ~0.5 litre/100km ahead of the regular bikes. I expect it's the CVT doing the smoother riding style.

>>271319 That may be the case, but if you eat 200 grams of bread and an apple you can move huge distances. Regardless of how inefficient the process is.
If you used those things as solid fuel, say burning them to drive a turbine/generator you would only get a pathetically small amount of energy out of them. Not enough to do anything with.
