Just a question I have been thinking about. If the pope called for a holy war on the middle east right now do you think it would happen?

[1333081694] Racism

No.101442 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
I'm white and the other day a young and respectable black man mugged me, and I thanked him for giving me what I deserve, and apologized for what my people did to him in the past. He beat me, but I didn't fight back, because that would be racist. I let him take my money and didn't file a police report.

Now, imagine if the same thing happened to a racist. They might even defend themselves or call the police. It's shit like this which is what's wrong with society. We need to give black people an advantage to help them move up in society.

One way we can help start that is by choosing not to hire whites, even if they are sufficiently qualified. We must fire all whites and replace them with blacks, regardless of experience or qualifications.

If you disagree, you are a Nazi or a KKK member.

[1380403624] British paranoia around US airports

!WjqNUvjZ8k No.109287 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
You make us stand in line with the other third world scum, and when we enter you cites it's like being in some third world shit!

No wonder you yanks love London so much!

And you have the nerve to take our photo and fingerprints like we would bother overstaying, it's not like you really can't find 11 million illegal Mexicans working the airports.

Most Brits are lucky to make it out of the States in one piece, with the Niggers taking pop-shots outside the airports and hotels.

[1380434418] Corporate Nonsense

No.109292 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
Corporations can not be honest with you about what they are doing to you, your society, or your environment, so they encourage the use of "soft" language, disingenuous speech that seeks to avoid offending anyone by obfuscating, misleading, and stretching the truth until it is almost completely unrecognizable.

Of course, they know this offends some people, and they use this to place the spotlight on people whose honest demeanor would shed light on this deceptive practice.

It becomes so commonplace that it makes its way into every aspect of our lives, relationships, family gatherings, technology and scientific development, the list goes on and on.

The end result of this is a culture that abhors honestly, that despises clarity, and worships falsehoods and misdirections as a valid alternative to reality.

[1380391246] Network

No.109285 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
The word is network

Polish your networking skills to achieve career success

Learn to network more effectively and reap the benefits.

"YOUR network is your net worth", said John C. Maxwell, author of the bestseller Becoming A Person Of Influence. Currently 60 to 80 per cent of job positions are filled through networking and word of mouth.

Business owners who connect with their clients using multiple platforms consistently get the most business. Even attaining a Master of Business Administration is no guarantee of success in today's tough economy. The richest and most successful people in the business world make a concerted effort to master the fine art of networking.

Radiate positivity

Everyone likes to do business with someone who is enthusiastic and optimistic. There are some who attend networking events and complain about the air-conditioning, the food, the sound system, the crowd, the emcee and just about everything.

Instead of quibbling, they should approach the event organiser to at least thank him for taking the time and effort to plan the event or offer constructive feedback.

To be respected within your networks, you need to present yourself with a degree of enthusiasm. Engage with people around you with a cheerful, easygoing spirit. Once you have done an effective job of selling yourself, you will be able to reap the rewards of seeing your contacts promote you to others. Word of mouth is a powerful yet under-rated marketing tool.

Be helpful

People generally don't care how much you know until they know how much you care. If you take the initiative to give, participate and contribute, benefits will come back to you in some way, though they may not necessarily come back immediately from the same person. In fact, sometimes they come back from totally unexpected sources.

Here are some ways to be of value to others:

• Introduce people to others you know;

• Recommend products and services that have benefited you;

• Share information you have learnt through your success and failures;

• Provide feedback on ideas;

• Provide encouragement; and

• Share your knowledge and expertise.

Helping others can be done in a variety of ways, from helping with an office move, to clipping a relevant and useful report and mailing it to an associate or client. These days, this can be done easily via Facebook or WhatsApp.

Be appreciative

Gratitude is rate in today's business world. Expressing gratitude to business associates and clients alike is another building block in the cultivation of relationships that will lead to increased referrals.

People like to refer contacts to business professionals who go above and beyond. Thanking others at every opportunity will help you stand out from the crowd.

Educate and reinforce

Networking is a learnt behaviour, much like learning to swim. If you are serious about it, you cannot take breaks from honing your craft.

The process takes you through a gradual and sometimes difficult experience, lots of trial and error, and finally a breakthrough.

Most people are not born networks - it does not come naturally to them. Schools do not adequately equip us to be savvy net-workers. However, you can arm yourself with the right attitude, education, training, exposure and lots of practice.

To get there, you need to read books, listen to audio materials, attend seminars, talk to notable networkers, identify and keep up with a mentor, actively participate in networking groups, and apply what you have learnt. It requires a little humility and lots of perseverance.

Get carded

All professionals need the tools of their trade to conduct their business. An effective networker needs to have his tools at hand: a name tag to identify him to others, card holders to carry his business cards, and card files to carry other people's business cards.

You need to let people you meet know who you are and what you do. Show them you mean business. Your business cards, the most basic of all networking tools, are one of the least expensive forms of advertising - so don't leave home or office without them.

Network all the time

Diligent networkers are never "off-duty". Networking is so natural to them that they can be found networking in the grocery store line. at the doctor's surgery and while picking the kids up from school, as well as at the chamber mixers and net-working meetings. In other words, be prepared to network in season and out of season.

Final words of wisdom

Networking, like a work of art, cannot be rushed or forced - it requires focus and it takes time to develop successful and mutually beneficial relationships.

Takes advantage of every opportunity you have to learn to network more effectively. Networking can add fullness to your personal, social, and professional life. As self-help author Robert Kiyosaki observed: "The richest people in the world build networks. Everyone else looks for works." So flex those networking muscles today.

[1377838852] China General's Son On Trial Over Rape

No.109107 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
China general's son on trial over rape

Gang-rape accused Li Tianyi and his father, General Li Shuangjiang, seen at the teenager's solo concert in Beijing in 2011.

BEIJING - The teenage son of a prominent Chinese general has gone on trial over his involvement in an alleged gang-rape at a Beijing hotel, in a case that has sparked public outrage.

Li Tianyi, 17, is among five men accused of sexually assaulting a woman in February, according to state media.

His father is General Li Shuangjiang of the People's Liberation Army (PLA), a singer known for performing patriotic songs on television shows and at official events. Li's mother Meng Ge is a famous singer in the PLA.

She was at the Beijing court yesterday morning but did not take questions from journalists, Xinhua news agency said.

It is not the teenager's first brush with the law.

In 2011, he drove a BMW into another car in Beijing, beat up the couple in the vehicle and then scoffed at bystanders about calling the police. He was sentenced to a year in a juvenile correctional facility and his father made a public apology.

The latest case has dominated headlines for weeks, focusing attention again on China's political aristocrats who are viewed as corrupt and above the law.

It follows the dramatic trial of ousted leader Bo Xilai, whose family's lurid excesses were detailed in court and lapped up on social media.

Li has become the most prominent target of complaints that the sons and daughters of top-ranked Communist Party officials can dodge the law because of family influence.

"The public is worried that his family, because of their relationships and power, will be able to use their connections," said Professor Zhang Ming of Renmin University.

"In China, this kind of privilege is very powerful. It's omni-present," he said. "The people's fears are not groundless."

Li's family has reportedly argued that the incident was a case of prostitution rather than rape.

Lawyer Chen Shu said his client would not plead guilty.

Xinhua quoted the victim's lawyer as saying she was in hospital because of stress and would not take part in the hearings.

In July, hackers attacked the website of a law firm representing Li, saying: "We just want to return justice to the client."

President Xi Jinping has made addressing discontent over abuses by officials a main goal.

Even the People's Daily, the party's mouthpiece, weighed in on Li's case when it broke, saying the failure of prominent families to educate their children could "lead to antagonism among the people".

[1333054030] This Democracy thing

No.101437 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
And so, a few weeks ago when I fired off my email to my local democratically elected representative raising my concerns about an upcoming change in the copyright legislation, I expected it to disappear into the void like so many job applications.

Only to receive a response ten minutes ago, informing me that my concerns, shared with many others, had been brought to the minister proposing the legislation's attention, and that he'd received an answer that might be of interest to me.

And it genuinely was.

Democracy works.
