I'm looking for some short photography-related books, preferably for beginners or slightly intermediate photographers.

i don't know anything about lenses, but I am trying to determine which body I want first.

The main things I (think I) want is something that takes pictures quick as I have only ever used compact cameras and phone cameras and they are so damn slow... and the video capabilities.

Gentlemen, welcome. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to take a picture of something that might very well get you hassled by The Man. Federal buildings, critical infrastructure, politicians' homes, etc.

Bonus points: Pictures from inside whatever secret CIA prison you end up in.

Remember, the idea here is to take a NEW picture, not to just upload a random picture you've already taken. Since almost nobody pays attention to that, I'd appreciate it if those few of you who do would include a datestamp somewhere either in your picture's EXIF or just mentioned in the post so I know you're actually participating.

So what does /p/ think about shooting abandoned buildings and such? there's this really sweet looking abandoned pipe factory that's been around since like the early 1900's that I want to check out but the front gate is locked but the back gate is open, only problem is that the back gate is right next to a state police boating dock. what does /p/ think I should do.
