Get the Tamron 10-24mm, less distortion than the EF-S Canon, and half the price.
Only problem is the colours are a bit washed out, but easily fixable by stopping your camera down .5 of a step.

Was thinking about that one, which is even cheaper, but isn't the Sigma 10-20 somewhat sharper? Also, I read the Tokina is sharpest of all third party lenses.

i have no prob with cropping. Even the best photographers make crappy photos. Cropping allows the removal of the area you want and emphasize those you want

sometimes the only way to fix what you thought was okay through the viewfinder at the time to what you later on realized you could have done without

Have to be pretty anal and kinda sadomasochist to limit yourself to absolutely no reworking including something nondestructive/manipulative as cropping

if your working with film and you adhere to a no cropping rule prepare for lots of money thrown away.
You better buy your film in bulk boxes.

Its almost akin to being an artist and refusing to paint over an area you made a small error on. Cropping isn't a manipulation as so much its just a removal of an area of the photo to emphasize your attention elsewhere

IMHO at least =/

This. I hate looking through someone's flickr and seeing that every photo is a different aspect ratio. What's even worse is when I've walked into photo exhibitions and seen people print them like that. Also, I seriously saw someone print a 5x50" panorama on canvas. Shit was so terrible, you can't have a composition when the print is 10 times longer than it is tall.

No problem provided crops are standard ratios. As you get better you'll crop less and less unless you're constrained by your focal length for a photo.

I do it rear curtain sync. Front Curtain is probably easier for composition. But as I mainly use the technique for live music I prefer the movment detail of rear curtain.
Club photographers tend to use front curtain sync.
Either works.

Thats why you have the flash firing.
The flash captures sharp detail and the long exposure burns any light sources as trails when you pan or shake the camera.
Front curtain fires the flash at the start of the exposure. Rear curtain fires the flash at the end of the exposure. Stop down a bit so only the more intense light sources leave trails to avoid excessive blurring faces.

I have used a bunch of cameras in my life but I never saw anything like that. my 400D does have some pictograms on the mode selection wheel that my 5Dm2 is lacking have, but I never figured out what they are good for.
