So i need a new tripod... I'm sick of this cheapass thing that i found on the attic, and scared that it will fall over and break my camera and/or lens. Head: I'm not looking for a ball-head but one that i can pan and tilt. And a bubble level thingy in it for horizontal and vertical measurement (this really is a must) Tripod: I'm about 180cm (6ft) tall... Price: as cheap as possible, with these requirements in mind. I suck at choices help me out :P in return: one of the portraits for a school assignment a week ago... >>303615 yeh but i couldn't possibly shoot out of my hand with the crappy lighting xD. I dont mind the harsh comment... its better than no comment imo
Okay, to reconcile for my harshness (I told you I was nice) just use a higher iso. You can probably get it to 1/30th on 1600 which would produce a noisy, but sharp photo. You can save a noisy photo, but you can't save a blurred one. As for a tripod, I never really use them. But the ones I do use are just cheap standard ones. Probably cost about £30. I've never really wanted to do studio work, but I can imagine a tripod being horribly awkward. And in regards to the lighting, don't make excuses. If when reviewing you can see the two light types, simply eliminate one of them. Move outside, or pull the curtains.

How bout using a decent flash? would that help, or is this only possible if u use a flash diffuse box?
I'll keep the tip about the ISO in mind. I used an as low ISO as possible in this situation because i did not want noise on it but as you said you can fix that noise, which i did not knew up until now xD
ah well next time better.
I like night photography of landscapes architecture, and i really need a decent tripod for it ^^

I own a Manfrotto MN 785B and I'm fairly happy with it. It's a strong tripod for a man on a small to moderate budget. Be warned that it is built for cameras under 1kg so your Nikon D60 may be too heavy with some lenses. I use a Fuji S9600 on it without any problems though that isn't an DSLR.

You forget the cost of lenses for a DSLR. This is fine if you don't want to spend any more money ever and are just getting into photography.
Anonymous
>>303240 No. It's not.
He won't learn anything about operating a camera from owning this.
You can pick up a nice sharp prime lens for relatively cheap;a DSLR would have been a much wiser investment.

>>303363 Depends on his intentions really. You'd basically buy this if you wanted to have a bit of fun taking pictures without the hassle of carrying around a heap of lenses, and only wanted to spend money once.
If you wanted to seriously get into photography then you are correct and he should have bought a cheap DSLR and lens to learn the ropes. And then buy more and more lenses and upgrade etc.
Sage due to elitist faggots.

303626 is sharpened, I didn't notice it was so obvious but it is. I was a bit in a rush editing them. The high contrast of the neg makes it look like that as well, though.

This is a picture of a flower and a bee. I'd like to know what /p/ thinks of it. Constructive comments, positive or negative, would be nice. It's an unattractive flower and a goofy looking bee. It's a sloppy composition and the background is distracting. These are all related to developing an eye for the final product before you shoot. Shoot constantly, and learn to criticize yourself harshly.

Sup guys. Looking for a camera recommendation. My interests are airshows (planes in flight), general urban landscapes, and astronomy. What would be the minimal amount needed and the model of a camera that'd be adequate for those?
Anonymous
>>303522 Dumbshit, you can't use a Hassy for airshows.

Quoted By:
its more about the lenses than anything else. for airshows you will want a good telelens, for (urban) landscapes you'd rather be looking at wide-angle. since these are exact opposites they don't really come in one package (though i thought a 18-300 was announced...?) and you'll probably have to get two lenses. next, any body that you can hammer nails with will be good enough. figure out what lenses you need first, invest there, choose a body afterwards
