I think I want CFL bulbs since they're not as hot and I figure I can more easily drape something over it to bulbs should I get?

I could afford that, I guess, but it seems a bit excessive. I'm not building a studio here, just wanting a simple home lighting setup.
That said, is halogen a good choice for indoor lighting bulbs?

If you aren't a tard you can make your own lightstand, or a few of them with standard sockets, nothing really too difficult, then go out and buy globes with the right color temp for your needs.
