Is there anyway to rip this model? I can't find any way to purchase it. I've had a look through the html and it seems to be an .mqo viewer written in flash.

Maybe try extending the piece that is shown inside so that the tip goes to the end of the other piece, and deleting the end of the horizontal part? That way it would be like a tube, and just slip on top of the larger strand.

Don't hold your breath. I tried making a thread about that and was told I just had to learn everything about 3d modeling because there was no guides for just papercraft converting/unfolding. Better start studying.

I'm thinking about trying this program called "Scuptris" which includes a brush called "reduce" specifically for reducing polygon count. I'm a complete novice, though so I'm only going based on what I have read.

Both of these will yield poor results. Why not just google for some tutorials and learn the basics of modelling, UV mapping and retopologising.

Sculptris is good for objects directly created with the program, but importing .obj files, most of the polys are lost. That brush is a powerful tool not for imported objects.
Reducing polys with those features ends generally in a bad topology and losing UV map data. If you want to reduce polys, it's better join vertices and/or creating new faces and Metasequoia allows very well this function

It is a problem that occurs when one or more vertices are located in UV map areas distant from one another. Generally you need to adjust only one vertex to the correct position relatively to the adiacent joined triangles/faces in the UV Map editor in Meta.

Kuro, when you finish building- will you take some shots of her from the front & back? She looks so lovely...

I'm really really looking forward to the .pdo but I'm afraid I won't be able to make her because I'm not skilled enough yet. I'd love to see some photographs of her completed though! You're craftsmanship is perfection
