>>12873367I personally don't think the kind of fringe lifestyle that we're talking about is a goal in and of itself. Unless you just want to be a gypsy, which is cool I suppose.
I think it's an extension of what you want to do. Like if you love music and just want to say "fuck the world, I'm going to play music!" Then you do that, move to a big music city and start immersing yourself in the music scene.
You'll probably be very poor seeing as you've decided you want to be a fulltime musician. You'll meet alot of characters. You'll have good times and bad. You'll probably end up falling back into the societal mold before your time is up too.
Jimi Hendrix was a homeless guy, he did that. He said he didn't want to hold a job or make money unless it was from playing music.
If you're fascinated with eastern religion and want to be a monk go travel to china and do that. If you want to sell pot and live an exciting life through making your money on a black market do that.
But yeah, it's pretty hard to just live life with the goal of being on the fringe of societal norms unless you have a goal. The bus guy in Cyan's story's goal seemed to be tied up in his life view. The bus reminded him of himself and he seemed kind of like a hippy so he made a little group of people who drove around on the bus and lived out of the bus.
I guess I just think you have to have a goal or a pursuit even if you are trying to be a free spirited nobody.
