Hormones, poor diet, and health all effect your cycle. If you are malnourished, severely under/over weight or you over exercise you have have a higher chance of an irregular period or no period at all. Getting severely ill can also effect it. Overweight girls tend to get their period earlier while under weight girls tend to get them later.
More fun facts: Sex can help ease cramps by stimulating muscles around the uterus. Orgasm can ease overall menstrual pains by releasing relaxing hormones. Cramps are a mini version contractions you would feel during birth. Cold water helps remove blood while warm water only set the stain more. Stress can make your period come early or delay it.
IMO, girls like to be overly helpful when another is on their cycle because of Carrie.
