Thanks to the Music Animation YT channel, I recently took an interest in Piano compositions and naturally, I did some research into the greats. I still don't really understand what makes Horowitz's interpretations so great though. Everybody speaks of him, claiming that he has this majestic touch but his interpretations only sound superficially different to me. Like he may use staccato where others would use legato (Chopin's Sonata no.2 and the "Raindrop" prelude) or the tempo might be slower or faster on some pieces compared to other interpreters. I do want to get into Piano though just because I want to further my understanding of Music itself and perhaps, begin to understand just how great those Men really were.
I remember on /a/, somebody was explaining how they knew nothing about Mahjong so when they watched shows like Akagi, they didn't really get why the Protag was so great but the more they learnt about Akagi, the more they began to perceive just how great the Protag really is. I want to go through some kind of realisation similar to that. For the time being though, I guess I'll remain at the lower plebian levels of understanding.
