Who should Ohio State play next? Here's an idea: Nobody. They're the only undefeated team left except for a clearly overmatched Boise State. Everyone has a reason why they SHOULDN'T play USC, or Notre Dame, or again against Michigan. So I have a modest proposal: They're #1. The end. And in only 12 games, too. Let everyone else play for 2nd. Michigan vs. USC would be a more interesting game, anyway. Because, y'know, we won't know who's gonna win it.

OTOH, the line on OSU-FLA looks to be anywhere from 7 1/2 to 8 1/2, so you can shop for the point if you're gonna bet it.

>>24932 Even going toe-to-toe with a 6-6 BCS team is better than the Belt was doing 5 years ago. It's called progress.
Have they had a ranked team? No. Has the MAC had a ranked team this year? No. Has the WAC had a team ranked longer than 2 weeks, other than Boise State? No. Has C-USA had a ranked team since they went to 12 teams? Mmm... maybe UTEP for like five minutes.
So basically... watch your back. You don't know where YOUR next loss to an unranked team is coming from. Booyah.

>>24925 I'm not being sarcastic. Beating Memphis and scrubs like that doesn't mean Troy stands a chance against an actual good C-USA team. Rice will crush them. Won't even be close.
If Troy wins the game, then you can brag. Until they prove otherwise, Sun Belt deserves the lack of respect that they've gotten for years.
You don't even know who the good teams in the WAC are. I can't take you seriously.

Sun Belt is improving, but they're still at the bottom of 1-A. There isn't a program in the conference that doesn't have to go out on the road a couple times a year and get their butts kicked by a major program, all for a paycheck. And North Texas had a pretty good thing going, then they hit two down years, and they fire their coach less than a month after he has a heart attack. I hope North Texas slides down to the bottom of the Sun Belt, and doesn't stop sliding till they're out of 1-A.

Yeah, they let the field sit outside all week, and then roll it inside for the game.

The only reason I see for having it outside is to have the grass grow from the sun... Otherwise... the fuck?

Dolan got scared of losing his monopoly on sporting venues in NYC and caused a shitstorm that blocked the deal from taking place despite the Mayor and Governor having raging political erections over getting it done. lol run on sentence.
The Jets and Giants are staying together in a new statium built in the shithole that is the Meadowlands.

Please, I'd love to hear a coherent argument that homefield advantage could not possibly be worth 3 points. Even *Vegas* gives 3-6 points for homefield, and they've forgotten more about football than all of us know combined.
Anonymous
Quoted By:
When you're at home, you have 100,000 fans screaming in your opponent QB's ear. That's definitely worth something. If Ohio State and Michigan played on a neutral field 100 times, I would probably guess that Ohio State would win about 55-60 of those games.

Think about it this way, if you want to negate the results of your loss because it was a close away game against a hightly ranked opponent, then you would have to do the same for Florida, LSU, and Louisville. Since Florida would still have more quality wins, they would still make it past UM

>>25176 How was it a bogus shot? They played they lost. Quit this equal field bullshit. Texas beat OSU AT the Shoe(not to mention USC at a non equal Rose Bowl). That is a real champion, you couldn't beat them there, you don't deserve another shot, you wasted it already. And what happens if Michigan beat OSU at the championship game anyways, they would be tied at 12-1 1-1 a piece. ANOTHER REMATCH? No fuck you. Michigan lost, they should have played better home field or no home field.

Yeah, South Carolina was only 7-5. Lets see who they lost to: 12. Georgia 2. Auburn 8. Tennessee 12. Arkansas 6. Florida (rankings at time of game) South Carolina doesn't look like such an easy opponent now, do they? And they lost all of those games by 7 pts or less except for Georgia (18 - 0). Michigan would have two or losses in the SEC.

Quoted By:
A playoff system would be best but will never happen because of the money issue. Not the BCS wanting money, but the schools wanting money. All the bowl games generate revenue for the schools, lots of revenue. So schools want them. Now you could take people from the playoffs and how they did and assign bowl games that way but you're still going to end up with controversy. BCS was supposed to elminate most of that because of the way the polls go. Unfortunately when a team loses late in the season they're suddenly a horrid team regardless of who they lost to, but if you lose at the beginning that's okay you can still play for the NC. Moral of the story: Schedule hard opponents first and easy ones at the end so you don't get fucked in the polls.
Anonymous
A lot of people were overhyped this year. Miami? Florida State? But the ACC and SEC are knocking themselves out because instead of having one or two good teams, then have 6 or 7. And no one wants to watch a rematch except Michigan... get over it.
