I walked into one once just to see what all the buzz was about. But when I looked at the menu and saw prices for things like conversation and checkers, I did a quick 360 out of there. Naive me just thought Maid Cafes were cafes with a special aesthetic.

It was too fucking creepy. Japan has a problem where they need to pay women before they can talk to them.

See, if those were just cafes that had a lot of cats around, and you payed a markup because, y'know, they had to take care of the cats, then I could get that. People have apartments, can't have cats, etc.
