Hey Elegan/tg/entlemen

Im thinking of buying these dice. I originally thought of buying some GameScience ones, but they charge double the price (27$) for shipping in Yurop. And q-workshop IS yuropeean, so it only costs +2.5 Euros

These dice are expensive, for sure (15 euros- 19$) but fuck, do they look awsome. So im asking you, are they worth their price? Will the paint start fading off after a few months of use?

(you'll have to inspect each roll to know what the result was since the numerals are part of the design, and thus not easy to tell quickly)

In any case, my friend has a similar set, though black and white. They're hard to read, but he managed to get "sort of" used to them, so he can read them pretty quickly.

Depends, really. If you play enough games where you don't generally use more than one of a particular size of die then they're great and I'd say pick them up right now.
Even if you don't, having a complete, somewhat expensive, set of dice with a pouch for aftergame storage really helps you to avoid losing any.
My sister bought me a set of brass dice when she saw that I kept losing dice from my little 5-10 dollar sets. I've had those brass dice for six years now.

Locations in UK and Germany, should ship to most of Europa.
Easy to read, and despite rounded edges, I've been testing them myself and I've not seen any unreasonable tendencies toward any numbers. (d20 gave a slightly higher number of 18s than anything else in a 300 roll sample, but it was only 7% instead of 5%, not a big deal)

300 roll sample is not informative, bitch. You need a thousand minimum. And it is a big deal because consider: this means that 3 will have an average occurrence of about 2% which means more than 50% less 3's than you'd expect.

Not that anon, but if he wrote it using random seed instead of just random, it's pretty damn well random as it uses your system clock for its random variable, rather than a prelisted set of random numbers.

I wrote a random # gen too, and it is VERY handy, especially because I deal with a bunch of fags who are craps sharks and roll 20's like nobodies business.

I made a "random number generator" that was just the an integer incrementing until it hit the maximum, then returning to the minimum. When you pressed "roll" the current value of it was displayed. Not that random, but it was impossible to get the timing down, especially when you couldn't see the numbers and how fast they were going.

It worked fine for whenever I used it. Didn't notice any trends towards particular numbers, either.

What my group does is we have twenty dice in front of each player. Each die has all the numbers sanded off, save one. We each end up with dice displaying all the numbers from 1-20. Rather than rolling these dice, the dice represent rolls. 'Rolling' the die consists of removing the desired die from our dice pool. Your dice pool is only replenished once all dice have been spent, at which point all 20 dice are placed back into the pool.
In a trial of 1000 'rolls', each number was represented exactly 5% of the time.

d6: your roll
d12: your roll times a coin-toss: 1 for heads, 2 for tails
d20: shuffle a casino deck. You must have license to shuffle and be under oath. Draw cards until you get a 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 or 9. Your roll is a d12+that number -1.

There, I provided you with an even probability distribution for all the most important dice using only certified random tools and no calculators.

Whoops, forgot about that. Instead, do the deck thing as described above. In fact you can do that to every roll. You don't need dice. Just use a deck of cards. For d6, first card 6 or lower. Works until a 13 after which you need to draw two cards.

That won't work for a d12, as you could never roll a 7, 9, or 11. To make it work: +0 if you flip heads,+6 if you flip tails. Also, to make it easier with the cards, remove all face cards, +10 if it's a red card

I know, I'm agreeing with you. Q-Workshop are actually better dice because unlike Game"science" dice, Q-Workshop dice are machined like casino dice. They hit levels of precision that Game"science" dice can only dream of.
