I'm an author who just came back to shitey old Essex from California and I want to do some travelling in England to stave off the post-travel blues. I've got some money, no obligations, I've a travelling bro so I'm not worried about getting raped while hitchhiking, and I've done this sort of thing before in Europe. But the thing about France and Greece is that I know where the 'nice' places are, whereas England to me is a mass of grey, beige and resentment. So if anyone has any ideas of nice areas to chill in England I'd appreciate the help. I'm not looking for extreme adventure holiday shit, just somewhere that'll have a few good walks, decent weather in the summer, nice scenery to help inspire my writing.
Hey /trv/, I'm going to be in germany on friday for about a week along with my brother. We have never traveled outside of the country before and don't really know what to do. Besides the obvious google results what are somethings to see / do? I'm a recovering neckbeard and he's a shut in so crazy party nightlife is probably not what we're looking for.
What's up, /trv/. I want to organize a hike tour with my friends, I assume we are about 10 people. Unfortunately, I do not really know how to organize the tour. I have a check list of what things we are supposed to pack, so that's fine, but I'm looking for help on how to plan the tour.
As we live in germany, the tour is to be situated in the alps. So this is a suggestion I got. (I'm not sure how to best post this, so I'll just give you the height profile picture).
I am a little bit lost from here on. How do I judge whether this is a good tour? We're all beginners, though most of us have already taken one or two such tours, with a guide, however.
How do we orient ourselves in the mountains? GPS? Are there signs that tell where to go?
And lastly, if I know what tour to pick, I assume I just call the owners of the hostels and ask them for prices or something?
I might seem a bit unorganized, but that's why I am here for; I am looking for hints how to best organize this. In particular, I need to know how to find out whether a tour is good or not. Once I have decided on one, the rest will work out I think.
Going to St.Augustine,Florida next week for 4 days. Got a couple hundred bucks I've been saving up. What are some of the things I should do? Never been there before.
All I'm really getting is the Lighthouse, which is already on my list...
TL;DR:Going to St.Augustine, what are cool things to do around there?
Here's my best tip, what i am about to tell you will really help you if you travel alot around N.A and Europe:
1.Sikhs are located Worldwide, all you gotta do if you want to find a sikh temple is type it into google maps or your Iphone/andriod etc.
2. Every Sikh temple gives out free food known as "Langar"(The Free Kitchen) it was stared in the early 16th century as a way to give food and make everyone equal as they ate. The langar can consist of very simple Punjabi food (lentil and rice pudding) to some extremely flavorful food (samosas, Pakoras, Paneer) You can also take food for the road if you ask.
3. THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING TO KNOW IF YOU ARE TO ENTER A SIKH TEMPLE! No Alcohol or Drugs are allowed, if you are under the influence you will be asked to leave. The Elders priests especially take this rule seriously.
4. if you have no place to stay you can ask the "Head Granthi"(Head Priest) if can stay within the temple. at most you may be asked to do some selfless service if you are to stay, This may be washing dishes or even serving food.
So I am considering Japan, Thailand, and Singapore for future lives
I know plenty about Japan and Thailand, but I need to know about immigration to Singapore
I am an American and I will have a 4 year degree in International Business and either MIS or Finance with a minor in Japanese. How difficult would it be for me to get a visa sponsored job in Singapore and how long until I can apply for permanent residency? Also, if you can, please compare the cost of living to Tokyo.
So /trv/, i'm getting out of the Army in 2 days, and i'm thinking of doing a little traveling before fall college classes start, I really love exploring big cities like NY, LA, Rome, etc. just getting lost for hours on end wandering around the streets.
With money being no object (just got back from Afghanistan) which cities would /trv/ recommend? I was thinking Tokyo (radiation poisoning is for pussies), Istanbul, or London or a city similar.
I'll probably sound like a massive hipster for this, but modern/mechanical or any scenery that uses extensive amounts of metal are awesome to me. Only places I love more than that are mountainous regions, though I've only seriously travelled once and that was to Wales to see that (was still brilliant)
I'll get to the point, what's the most mechanised city in the world?
