>>1177676This was a glorious moment. Absolutely brilliant in every way. I was wondering if Lestaki was just trying to destroy my empathy by constantly visiting suffering on these characters, but now it all makes sense. To be honest, chapters 38 and 39 were almost making me regret having invested myself so much into the story.
Now, you can see how genius it all truly was. How do you return the humanity to a character who has experienced inhuman levels of suffering? The only option was to break her again and make her remember what she really wanted and needed, what she lost in dedication to love. Madoka's words for Homura here were perfect in every way.
It all echoes the same theme of the dichotomy of selfishness and selflessness in relation to the importance of human relationships that was so very poignant in the source material. Case in point:
"I've been watching all of humanity, and when all's said and done, love is more important than anything else. I believe so, anyway. Everyone suffers and everyone dies. Everything is transient. Life is a leaf on the wind. But the bonds between people gives it meaning."
A true expansion and tribute to the source material. Perfect fan fiction. Lestaki, we are not worthy.
Obviously there's still plenty that could go wrong, but as of right now, I have total faith that the rest of this story will be fantastic.
