I doubt the fanfic clique consists of seven people, so if we assume there's five people max, that leaves room for one baker anon and one comic-reading anon (that's if my idea that the one guy who always dumps porn in comic threads is the same as the one guy who always bumps every porn thread on the board is true).

That sounds like the whole gang, I think. There's actually at least two people on /u/ who are confirmed bakers, but I'm not sure they're around often enough to be regulars, but assuming there's always at least one on /u/ at any time, it should count.

It doesn't help that tonight's the first night I've written since my hard drive failure. In that time, I've beaten five games and the only reason I'm writing now is because one member of my Borderlands 2 gang has to work at the times we'd normally be playing the next few days. This is why I wouldn't consider myself part of the clique: too much procrastinating, not enough writing.

On a board as small as this, where people can recognize frequent posters just from how they write, it's understandable that some people would be shy. We may have no names, but on a board like this, it's hard to be truly anonymous. It's much easier on larger, faster boards, where your posts are quickly drowned out and it's hard to tell if the one person you've been holding a conversation with is actually one person. Here, though? The hard part here is staying anonymous. If you post often enough, someone will recognize you, either by your taste in anime/manga, your writing style, the images you tend to use, your opinions...anything.

Does it really matter? We can all recognize some anons by their hobby-horses, assuming they're distinctive enough, but we usually can't tell it's them in other threads. By my count, there's only two people with a writing style distinctive enough for that, and one of them already uses a name.

I'm grateful that most of the regular posters on this board don't use a trip. There's rarely any thread derailment thanks to this.

I mostly keep a bunch of threads open as pinned tabs with auto updating on, only occasionally checking the front page.

Hopefully we'll get another decent janitor, the current one doing what they can for the most part but they only check the queue and not that many times a day (so stuff lingers).
Not that I'm complaining, they know how to request bans.

The janitor we have now is good, but doesn't seem very active. The only other flaw I see is hesitance to delete gateway posts to thread derailment -- see, Saki, Yuru Yuri. After the eighth time somebody makes the same post that previously derailed a thread, it's obviously time to start nipping that in the bud, and even ban requesting that user. Opinions are fine, but when it's obvious, trolling, baleete.

I used to really let myself go, and 4chan consumed all of my free time as a result. Now I just read a board a day and comment once or twice.

Pretty much this, I check often but rarely feel like I have anything to say/contribute. Probably less than 5 posts in any given month centered around gaming. I'm usually pretty behind on anime/manga as well, it's really more of a passing interest that eventually culminates into a marathon of catching up on things once I get motivated (Binge watching really).

Awesome job though OP, very cool.

Another lurker here. I enjoy pretty much all the threads that happen around here (anime/manga recs and discussion, cute image dumps, the fanfic thread, and whatever other brand of wonderful nonsense is going on). I admit I'm a little shy, but usually it's just that I just rarely have anything worth adding. I still absolutely love coming here, though, all the discussion and recent COA threads are great.

Nah, just kidding. If you don't already know examples like "cheating" in Saki threads, you need to lurk more threads in order to be an on -the-ball janitor. No, plucking posts because they're controversial is okay, but after a while it isn't serendipitous anymore—same wording, same everything, obvious trolling. Then you delete.
