imo a santient person, but a different one. Once separated, they develop different thoughts and memories influenced by said thoughts, although similar.

How can they be self contained? They share the same "neurons" or the brain, which is the CPU. I'm not exactly sure how double personality disorders work, but I'm sure that the situation would be similar. It'd be the same sentient being, whose mind was segregated by certain rules.

Tibetan Buddhism is where I've gained all of my knowledge of these things from, and there's a lot more that I recognize that isn't really explainable in words. There are things you can literally only find out for yourself, things that cannot be expressed.

Are you familiar with javascript at all? I am a bit, and you can set up classes that create objects that are unable to be tampered with by other objects, save for set methods you define. If you think about it, that's kind of like your body/mind. You can't interact with the world with your mind, but your mind can make your body interact.

Under the same line of reasoning, emulation works by creating a virtual sandbox in RAM that mimics the original system.
