Personally, I'd recommend Graces f of the two, but I'm not the biggest fan of Abyss, and it sounds like you're looking for a handheld game anyway.

Really, if you like JRPGs get both if you can. If you happen to have a 360, look into Vesperia as well.

I'm really loving Graces F but sometimes it feels little cheaply made. Like when dogs or cats block access to areas and some animations look so stiff (right to next week for example)

A lot of Tales fans will tell you that Graces combat is the best in the series.

Just be warned that opinions on the plot and characters(other than MANLIK) are pretty mixed and the game gets off to a horribly slow start(like most Tales) thanks in no small part to the silly childhood intro(think Roxas in KH2 but more gimped). If you do get it, make sure you set Sophie as your main for the childhood arc as soon as she joins.

If you can stand the first 10 or so hours, the plot and characters generally get much MUCH better.

I thought the beginning was the best. I usually get bored by the end of a Tales game but here it already happened in the middle.

But yeah The combat it's probably one of the best and between Abyss and this I also would recommend Graces

They're pretty easy to master though. Their lvl 4 A's only need like 200 each.

Sophie and Asbel's need like 400 per. It's insane.

Have fun mastering Sophie's charge artes.

Bare in mind that this was originally a Wii game. It looks nice upscaled, but technically it's pretty far off of say...Vesperia.

Yeah, you can really tell in the future arc cutscenes that they were made specifically for the PS3.

Hell, go look at Xillia...if anything, the graphics and animation in that game are AMAZING. Makes you wonder how Graces would've looked if it was on the PS3 from the start.

You'll want to make three more to finish that sidequest. I can't remember exactly how to make the stuffed dolls you need to make three more dolls, someone here will know (or go to Gamefaqs). I do know that you won't be able to actually make more dolls until near the end of the main arc though.

Because its a port, because its a change of artistic and graphical style or because the Tales Studio got lazy. It just confounds me.

Grrr, fucking charge arts. I managed to master Deadly force because I use it a lot, but the rest are nowhere near (specially Beast).

The problem is that those artes tend to miss or the enemy cancels your charge. Even with 4 Sophies is slow as fuck because the IA never use them.

Too bad the title for getting all the A-Artes titles give you a skill that boost your PATK each time you level up, very good for NG+. Otherwise, those skills could just fuck themselfs.

Well, It's a 2009 game for the wii, is obvious that Vesperia looks better. Still the game looks nice, aside form some ugly PS2ish textures, but nothing too bad.

I tried but still the IA only does the regular 1cc-2cc-3cc-4cc combo that can't be turned off and even if you could turn off those, you still need at least a 1cc attack to start the charge.

Only ONCE my IA's Sophies did a charge attack.

Jerk Luke was Ok, only when he started the "I'M THE AMBASSADOR" mode starts getting very annoying.

Exactly. Four in-game costumes, two for Milla, one for Jude, one for Alvin, none for the rest. I didn't mind too much that they charged for some costumes in Vesperia PS3, they did make a lot (the prices were ridiculous though) but they still added new ones into the game. I was happy with that, unfortunately since then their Jew conversion has progressed.
