My friends and I have been developing a video game lately, here's the pitch:
Taken is a Lovecraft-themed turn based rogue-like. The game will feature a black, white, and gray aesthetic, three-quarters down perspective, and a dominating focus on the combat. Taken does not have equipment, a separate skill resource, or an inventory. Combat will be entirely skill based, with skills being broken into a category. Using a skill causes the cool-down for that skill into a cool-down for all skills in the category. All combat skills will use player health as a resource. The combination of category lock-outs and skills consuming health should grant combat an offensive to defensive flow. There are five environments, and each environment’s floors will be randomly generated. The game will also have small gameplay segments, played as another character with different skills, referred to as Memories. Memories are based on Lovecraft stories from the Cthulu mythos.
So, with all that being said, ask an indie game dev anything?
