I uhm, I don't come to /vp/ much any more. Haven't in like... two years. But I went to the Pokemon Center in Osaka today. Would anyone be interested in seeing some pictures?

Oh good! I was afraid it might incur some kind of rage due to the atypical nature of the post.

There is a Pokemon Center in Osaka! It's located in Umeda in a department store named Daimaru. You get off at Nissi-Umeda subway station and follow the signs to the 'South Gate', exit 2. They're open regularly until 8pm.

Daimaru is not really what you'd expect. THe Pokemon center is on the first floor and right when you get out you can see swarms of people and children, but as you walk further into the store it's actually not a divided store. It's a open market-style floor where the back of the floor away from the elevator is a Uniqlo, a women's fashion store that's well-known in Asia.
This is the view, more or less, to your right from the entryway.

To the far left of the picture are two machines that make souvenir 'pressed pennies' but with yen. They each had three designs, oshawott was one, pikachu was another. The machines next to that, which remind me of a giant pokewalker, are some Japanese-exclusive arcade games. They are neat. You buy round tokens that you can load into the game and then battle with the pokemon from the token. If you lose, I believe the pokemon is no good anymore? Either way, I can't speak or read Japanese, so they didn't interest me much. To the far right are Gashapon. I spent 4 bucks there, getting a DS stylus and two little cast metal statues. They were random, I got Charizard and Meloetta.

To the right was my favorite display!

Didn't know that! I guess I assumed because I only know women who always want to go there. Either way, it's not my kind of place, that would mean less money to spend on Pokemon.

The front of the store has cash registers, then this circle display case as a centerpiece. Some of the stuff was 'Pokemontime'? Which seems to be a brand of very cartoony pokemon. Others was ... Masion d' Eveli? Which is more 'sophisticated' and girly Eevee stuff. It was REALLY hard to get pictures, because it was so crowded, I had to wait until traffic lulled in areas, but some were always busy.

And here's my absolute favorite place in the store! The Pokedoll isle. Well, only some were pokedolls. Some were listed as not exclusively for pokemon centers. They were not NEARLY as expensive as I thought they would be-- only about $10USD each. They mostly had starters, but they were advertising that it was 'new'-- Deoxys in both forms. I wish there had been some less 'standard' plushies, like after the HG/SS release they had Magikarp. I wish I had a magikarp.

Gengar is part of 'Pokemon Time' I think? Ponyta too, they were all rather derpy. And unforunately made with that snaggy carnival game material. They were the largest plush there, though!

I did something and my entire post disappeared, except for that.

To one side of the store they had info on the games, as well as buying games and DVDs. There were TONS of grown men and children alike, DS out, playin' games

I wish I could, but I only came here with a backpack, I have no luggage room to bring stuff for others back. That Gengar alone may not have fit in my bag.
Nonetheless, I did buy about $55 worth of merch. I'll show that too.

Clearly they had new stuff up. The pokemon they seemed to be pushing the most was Charizard, Mewtwo, and maybe Dragonite? And of course, always Pikachu.

Tokyo is just a bit smaller I'd say. It's just Osaka is a nicer store in general I think. Same selection almost.
They had no individual cell phone tails in Tokyo although. I really liked them, but they keep falling out. Almost lost one in the busy station.

I guess it depends! I know I like to get Godiva chocolate covered Almonds for a rare treat every once in a while, and those are about $6.99 a bag.

Another thing they had a LOT of was washcloths. I don't know why? Maybe it's some crazy cultural think I don't get. Either way, I was very tempted but eventually skipped out on that.

These things are actually figurines using the NFC (Near Field Communication) of the Wii U gamepad - if you put them on the gamepad, it reads a chip inside them and you can use the Pokémon in-game.

Here's the stuff I picked out! Audino is mine, I love Audino. My little brother got in trouble for goofing off at school this week, so I didn't get to ask him what plush he'd like. I picked Charizard for him, because Charizard. Since his first game was Platinum, I don't know if he has the same feelings about Charizard as my generation does. Here's to hoping... Because Charizard. The Vanillite is because we went to an anime con together in January and someone was selling one for $20. He asked my dad for it-- my dad said sure, and I said "Why the hell would you pay $20 for a 4" Vanillite? You can get much cooler, bigger plush for that much." Well, my dad agreed, my brother didn't, and he cried for probably an hour for the Vanillite, at which point he was being just too bratty to get any toys. I hope he still likes him when I bring this guy back to the States in June.

But they are pretty good to tourists. They will try to help you if you need it, and in English if they can speak a little. Of course there are some people who are not as welcoming, but very rarely. It's a nice place.

Last one for Osaka. These are right outside major train stations (or even in them) in Japan. So if you visit Japan in these cities, you can't miss them. And bring some money, unless you enjoy international exchange fees on credit.

There is (or was, this was back in 2005 or so) a miniature Pokemon Center in the Japanese area of Epcot at Disney World.

Unfortunately, I was unable to buy anything because Disney likes to tack on an extra $10 to absolutely any kind of merchandise they sell.

Bottom floor is Pokemon stuff. There's a pikachu on a stump statue that survives from the original, but everything else is brand new. I went there a few years ago, but they still had a good amount of stuff; figures plush etc. I got Sky Forme Shaymin. There's a lot of school supplies stuff too for some reason. Guess that's just a thing.

Upstairs has demos of the Wii and all sorts of Nintendo stuff, including the huge display case with different handhelds.

It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be (or as people seem to think/make out.). The only thing that irritated me was the people using the rented electric wheelchairs and such, then seeing them run for rides, food lines, etc.

I have the US nintendo world munna and musha plush, though only the munna is here with me right now. they're kinda small so not too good for cuddling. I kind of want a 1:1 munna plush though, it'd make a good pillow.

I think the problem with 1:1s is the cost for them? so they only make ones that would have high demand and would pay off well. At least munna is small so making one myself or commissioning a good one would probably not be too difficult/expensive.

When I was on exchange in Osaka 2 years ago, I went to the Pokemon Center just shortly after the relocation. It was fun, but they were promoting a lot of the 5th Gen stuff, so I didn't see a lot of the plushies from older gens. I did get a bitchin Entei plushie, but I would've killed a man for a Gible one.

When I was getting my Masuda Deoyxs at the Tokyo PokeCen a couple weeks ago, a couple of kids and their guardian came and asked if they could sit at the table as well. Of course I said yes, and the two boys started going through and opening their TCG card packs. It was absolutely adorable hearing them say stuff like "whoa this one's strong!" and stuff. Reminded me of my sister and me when we were kids.

One of them looked at my 3DS, commented on the stickers on it (the dot sprite set's stickers) and asked which game I was playing and stuff it was really cute. But I like little kids in general.

I'll try to resize a few pictures I have of the outside of the Tokyo PokeCen to post before going to sleep, but here's the one of the two other iphone pictures I have that I don't have to resize. the store was very crowded the day I took most of my pictures of it and I was afraid of getting yelled at by Japanese people.

Usually on this side there's the birthday stand where if you have proper proof and such, you can get the jumbo card thing and the event pokemon (right now tabunne/audino), but it was on haitus for the week for whatever reason.

Here's the inside as well.
