Alright /x/, I have my own little story for you, but here's a little backstory, first.

I know it seems like the two events are fairly unrelated, but I'm pretty sure whatever followed me home hung around long enough to try and get in. Maybe I'm just a paranoid scaredy cat hallucinating things, but I sure as hell never heard anything like the things I heard that day before. Even to this day I refuse to go outside at night or leave my window open. Whatever it was may have given up, but I still think that it isn't a wise idea to give it opportunity to come back.

I think the worst part of the thought of these modern skinwalkers is the fact that, as per common sense, it's usually a good idea to take others with you to dark and scary places. It breaks down this by giving us the fear that even groups aren't safe when one of us could become something /wrong/. Probably why it's so scary, yeah? I'd imagine if one were taken over by a skinwalker, they'd be too dead to care. But honestly, I think the worst part of it all is that it's more logical to not be afraid of the dark, but I cant bring myself to do it. All of these creatures and stories just fuel the fear and make it harder to convince myself that there is nothing in the dark that could hurt me. It's idiotic, but I cant convince myself to stop believing that there are /things/ out in the woods at night.

Wendigos are from the northern portion of the US and is endemic to Canada with the native Indian population of trappers/hunters etc.
They do not assume other peoples forms or steal skins, they are said to descend upon unaware travelers or lost trappers and steal them away on a cold wind, freeze them to death, carry them away into the atmosphere, stick them into snow drifts, on and on with things like that.
Out of that entire branch of similar creatures, the Wendigo legends are the scariest.
I knew several people from regions that were filled with Wendigo lore and read a lot of Algernon Blackwood stories which are amazing retellings of old tales he heard in the 1900s.

You hear a lot of recollections of friends getting doppelgangbanged, yeah? These survivors were usually in a group.

Not mine but....

A few years ago a few of my friends and I went camping in one of the camp grounds outside Fort McMurray in northern Alberta / Canada.
Anyways my friend and I found this tool shed that was filled with all kinds of unusual tools and the like on one of our exploration hikes in the afternoon. Late at night we figured it would be a good gag to claim all kinds of sensational things were in there and to check it out. So we all went together but it was pretty dark out (if you were ever in a woods late at night you'll know what I mean)
We only had one flash light so we gave it to my friend who found the tool shed who was leading the entire group and we locked hands with one another so we didnt get seperated walking single file to stay on the trail. I could only really make out what was in front of me in the direction of where the light source was. I assumed I was some place in the middle of the line and was holding the hand of this girl named Marli who I had a huge crush on at the time who was a small petite girl. Her hands were unusually small and felt cold... and wet, for some reason... but I just figured she had clamy hands or (hopefully) was nervous about holding my hand because she liked me too. After a few minutes of walking up the trail I felt her tugging at my hand lightly, I passed it off as her falling behind the group and trying to catch up but as time progressed she started tugging on my hand harder and harder until it felt like she was trying to drag me away and seperate us from the group entirely. At that precise moment I felt that whatever was holding my hand let go and I heard the distinct rusttling of grass, bushes, and cracking branches as whatever was trying to seperate me from the group ran away off the narrow trail we were hiking on into the woods.

It's an old one I know but that's all I got.

Personally, I've always hoped, ever since I was a little kid, that if I didn't believe in something or didn't give it the time of day it would leave me alone.
For example, my little brother and I hangout ALL the time in my grandparents basement. He says he as heard a ghost and even made some basic contact with it. The ghost seems to just make knocks or bangs, no real EVP's. The responses are basic enough to be weird though. He even took some vids with a laptop.
Thing is, I always tell him to ignore that shit when it start to become to frequent. I may have heard it a few times, but I try so hard to will it away that I've never really had any experiences in my entire life.

I happened to be reading through this thread while sitting on the back porch of my southeastern Louisiana home, enjoying a smoke and listening to the crickets and frogs and other critters.
Just as I notice that the frogs have been quiet for a few minutes -- odd, considering their usual steady, constant rhythm this time of night -- I hear a ... /weird/ croak. Not toad, not tree frog, not anything immediately recognizable and very strange. Gargled, with a seemingly different resonance (louder but somehow not? clearer? didn't sound like it came out of a small amphibian's gullet I suppose, but that may be the horror lover speaking). Another frog answered, sounded normal but hesitant -- croaked twice, quickly, then took a long pause before giving a short, awkward croak, then waited longer before giving another. The whole time, I'm getting all nope'ified. Fuck my ego. That was weird, and I'm no stranger to some weirder sides of nature. Swamp lights are a real thing, for fuck's sake, they're just not smelly, bright fairy balls.
But that croak? Odd. Just fucking odd.
So I'm back the fuck inside, wishing I'd closed the back curtain better rather than leaving a perfect open area near the bottom for juuuust enough creepiness to be formulated by my fuckwit eyeballs.

You hear and see some weird shit living in Louisiana. Even in urban areas, you're always somehow innawoods. There's some heavy juujuu 'round cha, y'all.

Also, fuck smoke breaks for the rest of the night. I'm not even going to get close enough to the door to fix the curtain. That bitch is locked, and that's all I'm worried about.

When I was a child, I was very socially inept. I lived in a semi-rural area, didn't have very many friends, etc. Mum and dad were always doing work or just not caring very much. Every day I would play in the forest behind my house. I would look for rabbit-holes and "treasure" (Pinecones). When I was around eight or nine, my parents got divorced, so I was in a sort of emotionally traumatic state. I didn't understand what was going on, or if it was my fault, etc. Luckily enough, my cunt of a mother didn't want me, so me and my dad stayed at our house, and she moved on. After this, I understood how he had felt my entire life, and I started spending a lot of time with him; helping with his work, making dinner, washing the house, cleaning up the garden, etc, because I thought it would lessen his load. It didn't, sadly, so I kept going into the forest and playing by myself.

One day, I came across a creek. It was only a few centimeters deep, and not that many meters across. I started coming hear every day to draw pictures in the sand, and make forts with the stones. As I got older (11 or 12), I started mentally developing father then I should have (Constantly thought about suicide, angsty, felt I should be a higher-level scholar, etc), and this place became a sort-of place to wash away my tears and think. Now, I've never had problem with schizophrenia, or any other mental illness, and I still believe I don't, but sometimes I really do question my sanity. One day I went to the creek early, and there was a boy there. He looked a little younger than me, maybe 10, and was wearing the oddest clothes I'd ever seen (Looked like something out of an old Siberian Colonists novel my dad had read all the time growing up). He saw me and had a sort of grin on his face, and he said "Boy, am I glad I'm not the only lonely kid alive!".

One time, we had swam in the lake, and I remember his neck and sides looking really stretched, yet somehow still natural, just not very male. So I hung out with him less. Whenever I would, he seemed overly joyful and full of life, but whenever I left I would look over my shoulder and see him tearing up a bit. I felt really bad, but I didn't want bad mojo or anything.

So, I went off to college to study literature and history, not sure what I wanted to really do with my life. I remember once we had to write a fictional essay, that would summarize a book we would publish if we were authors. I wrote it about him, what I thought happened to him after I left. My peers thought it was quite dumb and boring, but I would read it every so often, just to think about him. Every night, it seemed like he was there. I would have dreams about those woods and the good memories associated with them. Once, in June, I remember sitting on the floor of my apartment, just telling myself stories about what we could be doing right now if I wasn't wasting my time trying to do something I didn't want to. It got so serious that I entered a sort of depression, and would cry myself to sleep every night at the thought of me wasting my life with this bullshit education. That's when I started watching TV a whole lot more. I remember one night watching Animal Planet, or Discovery (one of those nature channels or whatever), and it was a show called "Mysteries of Nature", or something like that, and they had an episode on "Skinwalkers"- American natives who would become heretics of their tribe by killing their kin, then having the ability to shapeshift into wolfs and other animals. I found it interesting, so I started reading more about it- when I read one story I found on google, I screamed loud enough to be dismissed by my landlord for a week, for "waking the dead at 3AM".

It was a story about some campers who had a pair of friends, one of them being named Danny (I'm sure you've all seen that copypasta a billion times), and that's when I knew that, my entire life, I had just been some toy of so freakish creature. It was very early morning when I finally arrived in my driveway. Even if he was a skinwalker, or a figment of my imagination, I will always keep his memory near to me, and remind myself that things are monsters when you see them that way, and that they're beautiful when I see them another way.

There was an interesting story that had a fellow anon and his two buddies exploring an abandoned large tunnel of some sort, and that they heard the typical weird voice, and saw some white anorexic figure. If that wasnt NOPE enough, the creature what have you, was moving further in the tunnel calling out ot them like "help" and shit like that, it seemed to be luring them. Hey /x/,
I'm living in SD for the summer, working at Mt. Rushmore, smack dab in the middle of the Black Hills. It's beautiful around here, and perfect for camping/hiking, which I'd love to do.
It also has a pretty sordid history with NAs.
I've been wanting to camp out a bit on my days off by myself before it gets too hot, but this thread has had me rethinking that somewhat.
What do you think my risk factor is of running into a skinwalker/goatman/terrifying rapebeast in the Black Hills? Is there anything in particular I should bring just in case? I'd be venturing into Custer, which is a state park, so I don't know if that would make it particularly safer or not.

You can never be really prepared. Take a basic survival kit with you, knife is a must. A handgun would also be a good idea to take with you. "Skintakers"? be less creative, will you? Skinwalkers is more keen to the modern definition. The original Navajo name for them should be used to refer to archaic variations of the Skinwalker. Could also use Bunyip and Wendigo interchangeably.

First time hearing about skinwalkers, they actually seem rather fascinating. Something that picks a territory out in the woods, and manages to shift into the members of a group and repeat the words they say in order to merge its self into the group.

I like that.

All the more reason to fuck with it.

So, what if I traveled into the forest knowing a skinwalker's going to be there. Along the whole way I'd shout things like "I"M A RAGING FAGGOT" and "MY MOUTH IS A DICK BANK". I would say nothing else, not even a whisper to myself. Wouldn't the skinwalker only have those phrases to work off of?
And if so, would it actually work as some comedic relief given some creature is repeating my words?

Removing my trip for this. But I have a question followed with an explanation as to why.

If a /skinwalker/ was to take a humans form, and then have sex with a woman, could that woman get pregnant to a human/skinwalker mix?

My reasoning is this, my body is too small for my bones and muscle, I've had several occasions of breaking my bones just by stretching, yet I do not have brittle bone disease. I'm intelligent, yet I have difficulty remembering and spelling easy words. And something my GF pointed out, when people talk to me I repeat them sometimes, and alot of the times it is either very close, or exactly the same as their voice. We were thinking of making a comedic youtube of me mimicing people, but then we read these and wondered. Also doctors have said its normal but I walk on the balls of my feet right under my toes, and I have 2 extra little bones in my feet. 1 on my left 1 on my right. X-rays have shown this, and doctors again have said "It happens sometimes" basically.
