>>48901334Redline was a ''roadshow'' release in Japan... which basically means it was a limited release, going from theater to theater, town to town, with Madhouse hoping word of mouth would help give the film legs.
I seem the film in Yamagata in November, loved it, but it hardly even had any press. The theater didn't run any trailers for it or have any promo posters up for it. It was pretty empty both showings I went to, which was a shame.
On the other hand, Haruhi and the Macross F films were both packed and had a fair amount of press and promo for their releases. I guess having a franchise behind your film really does make a difference.
Of course brand name films like Pokemon and puricure are released nationwide in every theater and usually stick around for months, and have fuck tons of advertising behind them.
Bascially I hope Mahouse sells a whole lot of dvds for this, because I don't think a whole lot of people have even heard about it. In any case, yes the release time is a bit late, but not entirely unexpected.
