today I saw a cute girl in the train. freckles, glasses, short fine wavy light brown hair she was not really a OMG girl but was very cute when looked by the side or behind. She made me realize that I don't have many pictures of cute freckles. picture is not her, I just don't have a freckles folder.
I wish I had one of those hidden cameras, so I could take pics of ramdom people without look like a stalker...
Sometimes there is a beautiful woman, cute kid, or any other perfect pose and I can't take pics
i've learned that if you take pictures of people right in front of them and they notice you then it can be a good conversation starter
What you say to them? I'm not that good in talking to random people...
Apologize profusely that you stared in their general direction and had the gall to take their picture, their image is sacred and they have no idea what evil acts you'll perform to their photo.
OR, if they're not a fearful bigot, say "Hey"
Tried some street shooting at sunny 16. I kept on wanting to bump the exposure around after looking at the teensy screen and even the histogram, but I'm glad I trusted it. I like the jpeg workflow for this camera... shoot it and forget about it. Are you kidding that exposure's crap
Next time trust your instincts
You made an Asian women look like a black man, kudos good sir.
None of the shots say anything or have any purpose.
the exposure isn't good at all..

I posted the DSLR pictures.
look, point and shoot can mean more than just the camera type, i mean damn. a point and shoot to me is NO edit, NOT taking 40 shots of the same thing and picking the best one. taking ONE photo while walking with a group without setting my camera for anything. that to me is a point. and shoot. so im SO sorry for posting in your thread. That's not why you're sorry.
Now that you know better why are you still posting that shit?
Nice waste of a prosumer camera by the way.
Is this a good picture? if not, need criticism.

I like it. If anything, I would say less of the trail should be showing, but it looks pretty good.
You look low to The ground? Good picture.
The composition and light looks great, it's just a bit blurry. It needs a faster shutter speed or a tripod. 1/60 is the slowest you should really shoot by hand.
I don't get how you have that much depth of field with a 2.8, I would expect much less but heyy.
blown highlights, no subject, soft
Lemme guess...You use a rebel XTI!?
ive been using an older cannon rebel, but i was thinking about buying a new digital camera. but before i waste my money i wanted to know what you guys thought about the Nikon D60 (10.2 MP) theyre selling it at walmart for $574.44 is this a good price??
Don't buy a bloody D60.
That's a shite price anyway.
If you're going to go for a cheap Nikon, get a D40 or something.
And if you're planning on upgrading lenses, get a D80.
Otherwise, just get a new Canon prosumer.
By the way, it's /p/, not /P/.
lol if you're honestly too fucking cheap to buy a proper DSLR like a D80 buy a fucking used D80.
good evening /p/
I just got back from a family reunion. My great-grandfather, rest his soul, has passed on his old camera gear posthumously. Turns out he was a nikonfag as well! I am rather stoked and thought you'd like to see it... Body: Unknown Nikon, anybody? Lenses: Nikkor 50mm f2.0 Vivitar 90-230mm f4.5 Topman MC 135mm f2.8 Carl Zeiss Macro JenaZoom 70-210mm f4.5-5.6
You don't need special film, but I would recommend shooting a roll of Tri-x to get some real good classic black and white shots. Good luck finding someone who actually develops tri-x anymore without sending it out heh....
Yeah I'll attest to that, my store only develops C-41 without having to send out.
But still agreed, Tri-X!
I own a Nikkormat EL. Love the thing. My dad gave it to me. I'd kill for some of your lenses though. Dad only had a 50mm and a 135mm. So now I'm left looking for used lenses, and I'm having to go to many different shops because of the way the aperture is adjusted. Shitsux.
Y'know that's another thing that I can't figure out why they changed. I much prefer changing the aperture on the lens instead of that shitty little wheel on the camera body.
Yeah, this way is much better. And I have a feeling I'm going to be lost after I purchase a new digital body.
When I do eventually get a digital body, will I be able to adjust aperture when I use the lenses I already own [the ones for the Nikkormat]?
THIS IS STRICTLY A GEAR THREAD
Just to fucking piss the anons off, and make the tripfags happy. Give me your most expensive lens/gear, /p/!
I got the 70-200 VR nikkor too, that the most expensive lens. Got the D3 which is the most expensive camera i got.
But does it make me a better photographer? Fuck no... christ i think i'm suffering for it, it's taking alot to get used to the D3 and the fuckin 51 point AF... jesus... if only the 5D2 wasn't a thousand dollars more expensive than the D700 i probably would have gone Canon.
Quality of bokeh ain't all that nice in that shot, but the short dof sure looks nice. :)
well assuming the camera itself doesn't count, it's this.

Most expensive lens and my only lens is the 17-55 2.8 is usm.
After x-mas I will be getting the 70-200 is usm 2.8 if flashes count I have a 580 exII. my camera is just a 400D (XTi), but Im happy with it for now... next year I may upgrade, I am starting to wish I had less noise at high ISO 800+ for indoor sports.
I like my Xti, too.
not upgrading until I can afford full frame after graduation.
True wide angles will be nice :)
I've taken a couple of beginner photography classes, and they've pretty much taught me basic process...but how can I achieve this look through photoshop? In the darkroom, I could get something close to this using a couple of filters per print, but now that I have a dslr, I don't know how to get the look through PS. help, please? also how to do it with color photos, if process is different. Thanks.

FUCKING SHARP FUCK
my retinas are burning almost as much as they do with hdr fffffffff
It's the details of the old man if you want to see more details use a higher filter when printing your B&W exposure. With a higher (darker) filter you'll receive less light making the print dark, and more details of the exposure.
The Bread is lighter then the old man because probably he dodged the light on the bread or he must have a really nice exposure
Use a sharp lens, shoot raw, expose the file right (overexpose but don't clip), run your usual global tonal adjustments (levels, curves, etc.) all the usual stuff when shooting digital.
Convert it to monochrome with Channel Mixer (Google it, you'll see), do some local contrast enhancement (") with USM, sharpen it with high pass sharpening ("), apply liberal use of dodge and burn as needed. Two things about the last one: do all your dodging and burning in layers like this: Layer > New layer > Mode to Soft Light > check the fill with neutral color box. Besides giving you the ability to see it with the effect on and off and to adjust the opacity afterwards, it just comes out better. Don't know why, it's just a trick I heard third-or-more-hand. Do all your dodging and all your burning in two or more (or more, e.g. one for dodging a cheek, another for dodging a shoulder, another for burning a nose, etc) separate layers to get the most benefit out of the flexibility. Also, lightly burning the highlights in out of focus backgrounds often adds to the file, and I think it may've been done in the OP file.
strobist + hdr?
I know how to achieve the effect you are seeking

How would /p/ post-process this image.
I've tried multiple times, but I can never get good results. I normally avoid post-processing, but I like this picture and I don't want to give up on it. Lots of noise. When i'd got rid of most of it it looked like a painting so I decided to make it look even more painterly.
