So, for those /a/non out there with large 200hz TVs. Do you notice any ridiculously awesome changes when watching anime from the Motion Interpolation feature? Do you notice anything changes from the lower resolution rips of shows you end up watching?

I'm planning to get a Series 7 Samsung 46" soon to double, or should i say triple as my PC display, gaming centre and theatre for everything I watch, along with a nice $1000 sound system. So i'm just curious about what benefits this might have for my anime viewing.

I believe motion interpolation only works well if the source has a flexible framerate.

There was this guide that modifies MPC-HC to simulate Motion Interpolation, but it looks like ass, and is taxing on the gear.

Oh well, the BD ones look cool on 1080p though (Eva, Sky Crawlers)

Why not a projector? These days the prices are really reasonable, and the screen size is unbeatable. As long as you can keep the room dark, I think you should consider it. Hell if you move it's also way easier to take with you.

Don't people normally recommend turning that Motion shit off unless you're watching something like sports?

I've had it turned off since I got my TV, might try it.

Projectors burn

It's cool and all, but a large screen will still look better than a distant projection on a clear wall IMO

I think there are some things that it effects adversely. But from what I understand, the newest version of the software literally creates 3/4 frames by predicting the frames between the real frames. So in essence it could result in smoother anime scenes, but I think that would only apply to already high fps animated series, not some shounen stuff that has like 4 frames a second.

Well image quality will vary depending on model and what it is you are throwing the image on to. Anyway, I know it isn't a practial option for all, but I do think the OP should at least research it.
Also, keep that motion interpolation OFF. You will be greatly degrading the image quality. Unless of course you prefer your films to look like a british soap opera from the 80s.

Bulbs burn out overtime (as with all bulbs).
Unlike crt, they burn out faster, and as they burn out, images become mediocre overtime.
Hi-res porjectors for HD is no exception.

I have a mate who uses one, he says it's good for the occasional saturday with the crew, but with the costs, hassle, etc,makes it better to just use the 42".

Well yes you have to replace the bulbs, but the longevity in recent years is pretty impressive. For me, it is easily a price I am willing to pay. But then again, I understand if it would be a hassel for others. Also, I only rarely use it in the day, so I can see that having to black the room out all the time would get annoying for some.
Still, just watched Apocalypse Now BR, 250 inch image on a da-lite screen... films like that make it worth it for me.

My house has an office, and that office has a screen, ect. I like having the living room quiet and set up for conversation, so no screen/tv in there.

I can understand a projector if you literally want to set up a theatre type deal, but I can't really understand it for projecting on a relatively small surface. I mean if you're only going to project onto a 60inch area, just seems kinda a waste. And at that rate you're just buying a big TV, nothing really amazing about the quality at that point.

Have nothing against projectors, just that's my opinion as it stands, an I mistaken in some way?

Projectors are only good as the room they are used on. So unless you got a sweet setup like>>48902528, then youre better off with large TVs and just use the extra scratch for a decent sound setup.

Besides, the TVs of today are reasonably large already, and far easy to tinker with.

Yeah I agree, for all my love of my projector/setup, I totally admit that you have to have a good room for it, good throw size and comfortable seating distance, ability to black out all light..
On the other hand, if you invest in the means to do that, you will have a really excellent viewing experience that, in my opinion, is worth the trouble.
But each to their own. Besides, I still remember the days when 32 inches was ''big''. The important thing is to ENJOY whatever it is you are spending your time watching.
