It's hard to get into when you haven't been raised hearing about how amazing it is. The good episodes are fucking amazing, but the majority are meh at best. Try Pyramids of Mars or Doctor Who and the Silurians

Yeah, it's very hit and miss really, but when it's good it's very good. Bizarrely one of the best who episodes ever barely features the Doctor but it's well worth a watch, the episode is called "Blink". If you like that just use google to find any other episode by Steven Moffat from the first four series, as he's easily the best writer from that era

Also there's some awful episodes in the first couple of series where the BBC clearly aim it directly at children rather than something for adults and children, so you get stupid shit like farting monsters, and a guy who falls in love with a paving slab, etc, but there are still some really good episodes in those series.
