>>48910509No, 02 was pretty much screwed up from episode 1 for several reasons.
Continuity problems: The older generation says the Gate's been closed for 3 years, but what about Our War Game and the fact that Tai somehow travels to the Digital World himself in the first episode? The only time these problems are ever addressed are in the video games and drama CDs, never in the actual series itself like a good self-contained story should have had.
Character problems: You want to move onto a new generation. That's fine. Then you probably shouldn't be teasing the older characters so much because you're just disappointing fans of the previous series. And give your newer characters some actual characterization or a reason to like them. In the first episode of Adventure we already get a decent glimpse of who SEVEN kids are. We know next to nothing about TWO of the three from their appearances that border on just being cameos, and the third comes off as an incredibly shallow jerk. Surely some of you still remember the massive uproar back when everyone first saw Tai give up his goggles to said shallow jerk?
Setting problems: Okay, so they can go the Digital World and back home as they please, and this new enemy never attacks at night so they're free to do this at their own pace. In other words, there's basically no urgency at all compared to the confused kids lost in a strange world as in Adventures. The threat of the opponent being a kid himself instead of just another evil Digimon only barely covers this loss of urgency. Otherwise, it's hard to be as concerned about this new conflict.
