If it doesn't involve discussing anime/manga, then it's not related. As for discussing and posting waifus, while it might seem /a/ related because it pertains to the interest /a/'s userbase, it is not /a/ related either.
Now, it appears that you've jumped to conclusions based on your assumptions, as you seem to believe that I'm not fond of non-related threads; which I will clarify by saying that you are incorrect. Your first point is on spot: I believe that if the discussion isn't about anime or manga, it is not /a/ related. However, your second claim is false. Like I stated earlier, some of /a/'s best threads have been non-related, and I don't mind seeing them once in a while.
I don't particularly believe that waifu threads are exactly /a/ related, yet it's nice to have them around. But if a mod or a janitor were to delete them under the offense of it not being anime/manga, then I'd understand that line of reasoning.
