She eventually just went to not caring and completely did a 180 in terms of her opinion on the whole ordeal, because she got new "friends", so it kinda backfired since all I wanted was a friend anyway but that didn't happen

Not OP. But I'm in situation where I haven't expressed my feelings explicitly, but were friends (3 years).

She has a rocky bf relationship (4 years).

So I got friendzoned as soon as I hit the beach (D-Day reference) probably.

Now that it is summer. should I just minimize contact (only response to her, and be late about it), and just work on self improvement to return a new guy, and see what happens with her and her bf? If theyre even together.
