The only thing I can say is that there was a chance this could have been stopped at some point. If I understand antioxidants DO do some good over an extended period of time when combined with good nutrition and exercise.
Of course, I completely relate to the fact that that's easier said than done. I grew up in Ukraine in an apartment shared by four families and lived with an alcoholic mother for some time. However, things changed for the better for me - I was luckier, pure and simple.
Anyway, did they give you a time frame? Have you ever heard of the Budwig diet? I remember reading quite a bit about it ages ago, and it seemed to have some positive scientific trials. However, I can't stand by those words.
Again, I don't know what to tell you, but I appreciate your story. That kind of sounds like a horrible thing to say, but it's indicative of the hopelessness of many people around the world. And helplessness is really the worst thing that can happen to a human, in a way.
Again, none of this is probably helping, I can't even say "good luck" with a clear consciousness. Look into the diet I guess unless you get some enjoyment from food as it stands.
