i want to get a horse and ride it through asia/eastern europe for a while. lets say for a year.

i know nothing of horses. i can think of no one better to come to than you. what do i need to know? i expect a lot of riding, in a lot of terrains. can they just eat grass and stuff or would i need to be getting him food all the time? things like that.

You have to learn how to ride first. If you're being an idiot on top of a horse it's not good for you or the horse. You can both be seriously injured and it's not fair to the horse to have some chicken-elbowed, heels-up, unbalanced fool flopping around on top of him.

It also depends on what kind of horse you get. I've had horses that need quite a bit of grain/hay a day to maintain weight, and I've also had horses that get fat if they so much look at a flake of hay.

Seriously though. Learn how to ride first. Work at a barn, or volunteer at a rescue. Learn how to medicate, wrap injuries, and PROPERLY take care of a horse.

And while you're at it, you should get several of them and re-enact the Mongol invasion of Europe. Get several horses to switch on and off to, the necessary papers, and there ya go!

Also ride like the Mongols did. So when the times get tough, drink some horses blood to keep going.

You also need to take riding classes for a while...
You will never survive this trip. Sounds cool but I don't think it would work for ya =/ Just take a week-long bus tour or somethin.

Fifth, you would have to buy a horse IN europe or asia, because you can't ship one over (that would cost you another 5 thousand or so), and no one in their right mind would sell a horse to an unexperienced rider who plans on going aimlessly around europe and asia for a year. I would laugh you off my property.
