This story is kind of related, it happened about a year ago. I was driving home from work a little after 10pm on a dark road that is notorious for being windy. I took a curve and right in the middle of it a dog ran in front of my car. I slammed the brakes but hit him, I would say I was going about 20mph. He skidded about 10 feet from my car. I pulled over and got out and just than saw this girl screaming and running in my direction. My heart sank, losing your grip on a dog and having it run away is scary thing for an owner i know it well. I ran over to the dog and it was laying there blinking and I actually didnt think he has hurt until he tried to stand up and I saw his leg was in ruins. She was crying, i was crying, she said she didnt have a car and I told her get in mine and we drove to an emergency clinic. We were there til the early morning, but the wound looked alot worse than it was, and the dog was extremely lucky to walk away with superficial wounds. Today the dog is doing well, I actually ended up dating the girl, how bizarre is that. Anyways, how can you not have compassion for an animal if you see it in pain?
