'Mind of the Raven' has an interesting story of a man living in (I think) the US who has a raven as a pet. He regularly goes out camping and brings his raven with him to fly and enjoy being outside, the raven always returns to him. Though on the other hand the author has raised dozens of ravens by hand and most of those could have cared less than two shits about him and took off when they got the chance without looking back. It just depends on the bird, really.
