What would I feed a baby duck? How long can it go without food or water? What are the chances of another predator getting to it if I let it out?

Call a wildlife rehab place. They'll take the lil guy off your hands and give him everything he needs.

Until then, keep him warm, use a heat lamp if you happen to have one. As for food if you have any lettuce or cabbage in the house chop that up. Or if not, go out in the yard and get some grass or clovers (be sure to wash it). And make sure to give it fresh water.

add-on: This is a quick 3:15am fix so he doesn't starve. If you are planning on keeping him you'll need to find something to keep him warm (even though ducklings have the fuzzies they are unable to properly maintain their body temperature and so need to snuggle up with their mommies) and you can go to some sort of agriculture store and get some duckling feed mash and grit.

Oh, and photos. Take lots of photos.

When I was younger we had the same situation as you; my father put the little thing in a box and left it in the coldest part of the house, away from the family. We found it had died the next morning ;_;

(maybe it had died from other reasons, I dunno)

Yeah, I know warmth is important, but I don't have any heat lamps in the house, it had a handcloth that it snuggled into, but I don't know how much good that did. I decided to let it out, under the assumption that it was close enough to the families nesting area to find it's way home and that it's capable of walking a couple of feet without getting attacked by a predator. I just accepted the realization that I don't know what I'm doing and I'm putting it's life at jeopardy and reducing it's odds of surviving by keeping it in my house.

I'll probably search for it in 30 minutes, or at least listen for it to see if it's still crying.
