Sometimes when I'm about 90% asleep and 10% awake I realize there's an annoying weight on my legs or around them, and without realizing it's her I kick a bit, not hard or anything, just in a gtfo of me way. She always climbs back on though. So unless you tend to kick violently in your sleep, I don't think it's much to be worried about. Cats will also move if you move, they aren't completely unaware, and they won't just lay there if they're in danger. Most cats sleep very lightly.
