I have a question.
I just got a Pomeranian puppy, she is 2 and a half months old.
I just got her 4 days ago and she is doing great, but today she seems to be sneezing a lot, should I worry about that? I will take her to a vet tomorrow, but I just want to know if this might be something serious.
I got her from a pet store in California but I live in Mexico and well, you can imagine the long journey she has been through and of course she has all her shots needed at her age.
I am actually pretty worried about this. Is it normal?

Also, any tips to get a puppy potty trained? I have had dogs before but my mom was the one training them because I was too young.

She is just too cute.
Come on guys :( I am worried about Zelda sneezing so much. Could it be because of the change in weather? California is very dry, and where I live in Mexico is very humid. Could that be the cause ?

My dog sneezes when he's annoyed or frustrated. Not to say your dog is just pissed off, but it could very well be nothing. Try to not worry too much until you see the vet.

It could be a lot of things, allergies, respiratory infection, maybe just random stuff. How often does she sneeze? Is it just sneezing or does she wheeze and rasp a lot too?

She sneezes very frequently. Probably like every 10 minutes or so. And yes, she also wheezes and rasps.
I will take her to the vet in the afternoon. Are the wheezes and rasps a bad sign ?

She may be sick or have the beginnings of a respiratory infection, yes. Wheezing and rasping, especially in a puppy, is never good. Definitely mention it to the vet.

Pet stores don't always take the best care of their pups, and they often come from shitty breeding farms. Disease spreads quickly in places like that, and they're usually pretty dirty so a respiratory problem is definitely a possibility.

A good tip I heard once about potty training is, you take the dog out on a leash and as soon as it 'does its business' you take it back inside. Always do this, then the dog will hold it in longer because it wants a longer walk. Teaching it to hold it in will be helpful if you ever need to leave it in the house alone for a bit. Every day you'll walk a little further, and once she's used to a nice length and she's fully trained you can just walk her and let her go whenever.

In a puppy that small, I would definitely get her to a vet as soon as possible. Sneezing, raspy breathing and wheezing is serious and needs to be taken care of promptly with puppies. Pet stores are horrible places to get dogs, they usually end up sick like yours is, and it could easily progress into pneumonia which will end up costing you a LOT of money. Pet stores slack on the vaccines puppies need and I noticed you said you're in mexico now...which I've heard there are a LOT of Distemper/parvo outbreaks there recently. I'd be worried about Distemper with those symptoms. Not to freak you out, but she needs to be started on antibiotics very soon. Good luck.

Guys, thank you so much for your info and tips you've given me. I love all the help people can actually get from /an/. I really appreciate it.
I just took Zelda to the vet, she has a soared throat and pretty much a cold. The vet said it's quite normal she has this because she has been into lot of stress lateley, like I told you guys she had to get shots and medication for her to fly from California to Mexico, and get used to new surroundings and weather change. The vet gave me some antibiotics that I have to give her every 12 hours, in 5 more days I will take her back to the vet to se how she is doing.
I think she will be fine :)

Also, how harmful is cigarette smoke for dogs?
No one in my family smokes, but a couple of days ago I went to starbucks with Zelda and pretty much everyone sitting on the outside tables was smoking.
I dont know how bad it is, but I just grabbed my coffe and walked away with Zelda to sit somewhere far away from the smoke. So, how harmful is it ?

I am not sure but I think that if cigarette smoke harms humans it can also harm dogs ? I don't know what effects it can cause on them though.
whatever, I smoke and I have a beagle and he seems pretty healthy anyways.

I've heard of some recent studies showing that pets who live in a home where people smoke indoors do have health problems. Something about the way the smoke sits low to the ground along w/ ashes and whutnot. IMO, it's kind of a no-brainer... cigarettes hurt people, therefore they'll hurt animals too. The difference between being outside among smokers and being indoors among smokers it that outdoors the smoke side-effects dissipate quicker than they do indoors. I want to say it's something like 15 seconds before it's not longer "harmful" outside, but I'm not sure where I hear/read that. Whereas in doors the smoke lingers, gets in your clothes/couch/etc. We use to smoke indoors and it never really seemed to bother my cats, only if I blew the smoke directly into their face (usually on accident if they were up in my face when I exhaled....) but we didn't smoke indoors for very long and don't any more so I'm not a good gauge on whether or not cigarette smokes harms animals.
Either way OP, I wouldn't worry about it too much, there's so much other pollution in the air that the smoke can't really harm your puppy too badly but it's still a good idea not to sit next to a group of people chain smoking.

Don't go near smokers, especially if you have such a young puppy. Dog lungs are the same as human lungs, only smaller. Besides cigarette smoke harms anything that has lungs.
