So I didn't know where else to put this, and it's kind-of nature related, so here we go. I recently started the 'no-poo' thing for hair, where you only wash your hair with just water. it;s supposed to be pretty amazing. I'm just wondering if there's anyone on here who may have tried it or have some experiences with it.

prolly shouldn't bump this but on the off chance OP is still listening. Most people go to a co-wash (aka conditioner wash ala no poo) because of all the drying agents in regular shampoo (sulfates parabens, strip your hair yadda yadda). Its a recommended regimen for black people who want to stop perming their hair (this is how i come by my info because i keep my hair natural), but I like the feeling of lathery hair (a feeling lost with a co was regimen) so what i do is just make sure whatever shampoos i buy don't have those chemicals in them. So if you wanna go no poo thats up to you, i'm just telling you you don't have to.

Seems to me that "washing" with water would be the same as not washing it at all and your hair would become a greasy mess in a few days. I tried the conditioner-only thing for a week or so once, and I ended up with the itchiest scalp of my life because it wasn't being cleaned. Finally, I started washing my hair (and the rest of my body) with raw black soap from Ghana. I use nothing else on it, not even conditioner, and the only other thing I do for my skin is use a couple of drops of coconut oil on my hands and face after showering. My hair and skin are both great.

hey op i have been doing this for years now, what happens is for the first couple of weeks when you start your hair will be greasy as fuck and might smell a bit but once the bactera and oils have gotten in balence you hair will be healthy and great, no dandruff or dry itchy scalps and no oily hair, wash it with water everyday and with a regular natural shampoo every two or three weeks or so or if it gets oily which happens sometimes depending on the wether. in conclusion i highly recomend doing this my hair has never been better.

You need to go about a week or so with no products only water (and scrubbing) before the nasty greasy look stops. Make sure you brush it out a lot too, it spreads the oil from the root to the end. That'll prevent that 'greasy bangs/roots' look. It takes time and remember one wash with shampoo and you'll have to go through the nasty period again. What shampoo does is removes your natural oil. Conditioner puts back fake 'oil.' But you need to have the natural oil spread all over, which is what brushing does. Post pics when you're pretty again, OP.
