My parents were doing some yard work today and discovered a box turtle under a bush that they were hoping to trim.
Dad successfully moved the turtle away to another part of the yard, is there anything else we should do or just not worry about the turtle?

Ah man I totally found a frog/toad when trying to get some weeds out of the garden today. My mom told my cousin and I to do it, I dig up one with a hoe... then out of nowhere this frog jumps out. He just backs into the hole I'd dug and buries himself. My mom named him Elmer and said we didn't have to weed anymore, because she was afraid we'd hurt him or other frogs.

I almost want to keep the turtle as a pet, but this sucker is pretty big and we don't exactly have food for just the turtle

Turtles will eat worms, fruit and veggies. But they're not as easy to keep as you'd think. My BF had one and it died after two years. If you're going to keep him you have to do it right and expect having to pay quite a bit for a suitable enclosure.

What I'd recommend, if you want him as a pet, is get a bit of paint (latex, or nail varnish will work) and put a bit on his shell. Just enough that you can identify him. That way each year when he's hanging out in your yard you'll see him and know it's your turtle. He'll be happier and live longer, and you'll get a neat 'hey it's [turtle]!' each time you see him.

It must still be hibernating. Box turtles need to hibernate once every year to prevent from burning out and living less. It would be wise to simply not touch it again and leave it be, also it's rare to find one in a yard, consider yourself lucky!

On the lines of finding hibernating critters, I found this guy a couple weeks ago when clearing some brush away.
He was awake and sort of crawling around and I was scared that I had accidentally hurt him. On closer inspection he either lost his foot to a predator or simple didn't develop one. I placed him under our deck where critters were less likely to get at him and eat him.
