I want to switch my 1 yr old Saint Bernard to better quality food. I initially wanted to go for Blue Buffalo or Bil-Jac but the woman in Petco convinced me (And my mom who bought the small breed version) to buy Nurto Natural Choice.

I googled it when I got home and found a lot of shit about dogs dying/getting sick from it and I'm not sure if it's the right choice. :/

The woman told us that we could take the food back if the dog didn't eat it or w/e so yeah. What's the best food? The internet tells me a bunch of stuff and I really don't know.

The BEST? A raw food diet. It's actually cheaper than commercial dog food too.

Otherwise, get something canned. The worst canned shit is still better than mid-tier dry food.

OP, raw is the BEST way to feed your dog. If you want to stick with kibble, look into Acana, Nature's Variety, or Fromm. If price is an issue, a lot of people suggest Diamond or TOTW.

Nutro's Natural Choice label is comparatively far better than the Walmart crap like Kibbles N Bits but it is still a mass produced big bag brand, roughly equivalent to Eukanuba or Iams Pro Plan. Its not bad, but its not good either.

Blue Buffalo and Bil-Jac are both better, and infact are probably the best dog food that can be commonly found. It is entirely possible that you have better available to you locally or you can order better online. These are just the best that are commonly available in most pet stores.

And as always, Raw food is best unless your vet has specifically told you not to for medical reasons.
