Obviously, her email was first. If there would indeed be photos, they would surely be there. But socially engineering myself into her mailbox proved harder than usual. She only used her phone and a security question as a backup. Her phone, obviously, was out of the question, but the security question proved possible. Yet the question was hard: "Who was my best childhood friend?". This should not be too hard, should it? Unfortunately, I did not know her good enough to ask her questions like this in real life, so I set out to other ways. I went through her Facebook friend list, and over the course of days I systematically entered each and every one of her 300 friends, first using only first names, later using both first and last. As you know, Hotmail (for this was her provider) kicks you out of the recovery menu for a day or so after too many failed attempts, so this process took a rather long time. But I was patient, as I knew that the reward was too great to be true. But alas, it was to no avail. Neither of the 300 friends contained the right answer, which I had feared a little. I knew, though, that it was only the first minor and expected hurdle, and I lost no hope. I continued my search.
